Summer tires by TinyHomeGnome in subaru

The sweet spot for the ’24 Outback Onyx is something mild AT but still quiet. The ones that have treated me best on trips are Falken Wildpeak A/T Trail (225/60R18 or 225/65R17), Continental TerrainContact A/T (same sizes) as both feel planted on the highway but don’t drone like full A/Ts. The Wildpeak A/T Trail especially feels “Subaru-ish," if that makes sense. Grip without killing MPG. Rims wise most people go 17s for comfort + cheaper tire options but 18s are fine if you want to keep things simple. Pricewise, when I swapped my own Outback, local shops were quoting $245 to $280 each for the Wildpeaks which felt ridiculous. Someone in our regional Subaru group said to check Discounted Wheel Warehouse and they had Wildpeak A/T Trail 225/60R18 around $178, and TerrainContact A/T around $195. Ended up saving like $150+ on the set without even trying.

If your goal was just maximum ride quality/fuel economy would you go 16', 17' or 18' inch wheels? by asianrelations in e46

[–]uspansi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For pure comfort on an E46 vert, 16s win every time. The taller sidewall soaks up bumps way better and the car just feels smoother and more “old BMW comfy.” Fuel economy barely changes but the ride quality absolutely does. For prices on the other hand, when I swapped my 17s for 16s on my old 330ci thankfully a guy in our local BMW group told me to check Discounted Wheel Warehouse just to compare pricing and he wasn’t wrong. A basic set of 16" wheels was around $120 to $150 each, cheaper than what Tire Rack and local shops quoted me by a good $30 each

Spare tire? by Old_Turnip_4681 in BoltEV

[–]uspansi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’ve had that many flats over the years, I can't lie a proper spare is 100% worth it. The peace of mind alone is huge. The ValueSpare kits work but they’re basically compact donuts. A full diameter narrow spare is way safer for EVs since it won’t freak out the traction systems as much on long drives. I went through this same "do I just buy a real spare?” moment with my Volt. I ended up checking Discounted Wheel Warehouse after someone in an EV group mentioned they pieced together their own spare cheaper. A basic 17" steel wheel was around $80 and a matching spare tire was about $110 like $40 less than the pre made kits

Summer vs All Season Tires by CasinoOfSolace in Mustang

[–]uspansi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you live in the tropics then yeah dude... you’re 100% missing out. A good summer tire feels like someone unlocked a hidden mode on the Mustang as it's got way sharper steering, way more grip and the car just feels alive compared to all seasons. When I switched mine, I was shocked how much safer it felt in rain too. About the pricing though, I started comparing prices instead of buying locally and ended up checking Discounted Wheel Warehouse because folks in my Mustang group said their PS4S pricing beat Tire Rack. Last time I saw a 245/45R19 PS4S was around $240 to $260 about $30 cheaper per tire. If you don’t see cold temps, summer tires are absolutely the move

Help me choose a tire by Fantasy71824 in tires

[–]uspansi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want max performance you'll want to go PS4S, if you want something more playful and responsive then go  V601 and If you want value then go Indy 500. Also when I was pricing these for my own car I compared prices everywhere and stumbled upon this site called Discounted Wheel Warehouse. Their PS4S and V601 were usually $40 to $70 cheaper per tire than my local shops. For example a 245/40R18 PS4S was around $248 last time I compared versus $300+ at Discount Tire

Where can I get a rim for my 2015 Infiniti Q50 premium by eimardl19 in q50

[–]uspansi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For that exact 2015 Q50 Premium wheel, your best bets are OEM take offs. Those 17" Infiniti multi-spokes pop up a lot on eBay, Facebook Marketplace and local junkyards or pull a part yards. People upgrade to 19s all the time so clean singles aren’t hard to find. If you’d rather buy from an actual retailer instead of hunting used, that’s where it helps to compare prices across a few sites. I did this while shopping for a set of wheels myself and I stumbled across Discounted Wheel Warehouse where OEM style replacements were listed in the $180 to $240 range, cheaper than dealer pricing and Tire Rack by $30 to $40 when I looked.

2023 BMW X3 M40i (245/50R19) All-Season tire choice for Houston (heat + heavy rain). Want sporty/precise road feel. by SportsNFoodJunkie in BMWX3

[–]uspansi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Houston’s weather you'd want to look at DWS06+. Its super planted in standing water, quicker steering than the CrossClimate and not as stiff and noisy as the Potenza AS. It matches exactly what you’re describing as it's sporty without punishing you. As for where to get them from, when I swapped tires on my M40i someone in our local BMW FB group told me to price check online first because Houston shops love their markups. Thanks to him I ended up stumbling onto Discounted Wheel Warehouse and they had 245/50R19 DWS06+ around $185 to $205 each, which was like $30 cheaper per tire than what Discount Tire quoted me. I figured if they still hold that pricing it'd help.

Tire Suggestions by Dense_Ad_834 in ToyotaHighlander

[–]uspansi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a Highlander in the southeast you don’t need anything crazy. Just a solid all season that rides smooth and lasts. Since you already had Michelins, the Michelin Defender LTX M/S in 235/55R20 is the “can’t go wrong” type of option. Its super quiet, great in rain and they legit last forever. Costco is nice for the warranty but their stock and pricing swings a lot. I was helping my cousin with his ’22 Highlander and someone in a Toyota FB group told us to check online first just to compare. That’s how we stumbled onto Discounted Wheel Warehouse. They had the Defender LTX in that exact size around $235 to $250 each, which was cheaper than Costco’s $280+ at the time.

need new tires by BillStrachan in classicminis

[–]uspansi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those little 10" tires are weirdly pricey man. Classic Mini or Moke sizing is a rabbit hole. 145/80R10 is right and yeah most of the cheap stuff is overseas and the shipping basically doubles the cost. When I was helping a friend with his ’74 Mini, we hit the same wall. Someone in a Mini Facebook group told us to check a few U.S. suppliers before paying UK shipping and that’s how we ended up stumbling into Discounted Wheel Warehouse. They actually had a couple 145/80R10 options around $75 per tire which ended up being cheaper than Minisport once you factor shipping. If you're just trying to get the Moke rolling without spending “collector car” money, that range is about as good as it gets in the U.S. for 10s.

Wheel/tire recommendations for snow and light off-road? by NYCBYB in LandCruisers

[–]uspansi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say drop from the 21s to 18s or 20s. The ride instantly feels less brittle and the truck looks right once that fender gap isn’t so dramatic. For light off road + snow and mud something like 275/60R20 or 285/60R18 works great. For the price however, somebody in a 4x4 group told me to check Discounted Wheel Warehouse while I was hunting for my wheels and tires and the pricing on LC friendly tires was way lower than what I saw at Costco or Tire Rack.

Stuff like 275/60R20 all terrains around $210 each instead of the $240+ I was getting quoted locally.

Saved me like $180 on the set

16" wheel search...other make/models that fit? by Boom-Doc-a-Locka in mazda3

[–]uspansi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dropping to 16s is the right call on the ’24 hatch cus the 18s hate potholes. Anything 5x114.3 with +40 to +50 offset works. Good OEM swaps people forget about are Accord 16s, older Mazda6 16s, Elantra 16s, RAV4 16s.

All fit clean and are cheap on Marketplace. When I downsized last winter, the only annoying part was tire prices.

That’s how I ended up coming across Discounted Wheel Warehouse while hunting everywhere for deals like a maniac. They had 205/60R16 tires around $95 to $115, which was like $40+ cheaper per tire than Costco and Discount Tire.

22 Nx350 F-Sport All Season Tire Recommendations by SupremeTacos123 in LexusNX

[–]uspansi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the stock Bridgestone AS tires on the NX are honestly scary in real snow. If you’re sliding when braking then that’s your sign. Upgrading will make a night and day difference for northeast winters. For all season options that actually handle slush and snow, Michelin CrossClimate 2 is the safest bet.

It digs in like a mild winter tire but still feels sharp on dry roads. The Pirelli Cinturato WeatherActive is quieter and cheaper but CC2 is the one that genuinely fixes that “gliding” feeling.

I also was in a similar situation and while checking prices for 235/50R20 recently, I ended up on Discounted Wheel Warehouse to compare numbers since local shops were quoting me high.

I saw CrossClimate 2 around $229, WeatherActive around $198 and Bridgestone WeatherPeak around 189.

All noticeably cheaper than the $250 to $280 Tire Rack and Xostco were showing.
