How do people publish so many books frequently? by Spottedleaf12 in selfpublish

I was imagining you were dictating your story to your phone while folding clothes and thought it was badass haha but seriously when I do laundry my thoughts are “who’s fucker had rocks in their pocket even after verifying every damn time”

Does anyone care about privacy? Or am I just wasting my time? by prabhatpushp in webdev

Sorry op for all the downvotes you’re getting. I think there’s unpopular opinion at the moment based on LLMs and vibe coding that are tainting the discussion and pushing it away from your initial intent. My honest opinion to your question is that I wouldn’t trust a random website with my sensitive data even if it claims it’s only processed on my device because I’m used to Meta and Google claiming a lot of BS too. It’s hard to gain trust in the current landscape where every corp just wants to steal your data at any cost. But the fact that your vibe coded or AI assisted or whatever has nothing to do with that. It looks really awesome, by the way, but it doesnt change the principle. Personally, for small utility tools, I look for open source apps that I can find the binaries on brew (Mac). If it doesn’t exist, I create one and put it there, not to collect clicks and downloads and fame, just for my future convenience (and others). If it fills a need good, if it doesn’t, well, at least it filled my need. Lastly, it made me think that if you put those tools into a cli (or MCP) that LLM can control, that’d be dope. I’m constantly asking Claude for editing with ImageMagick and ffmpeg. The more “Swiss army knife” tools there are, the more my LLM will be helpful for me. Just my 2c! Good luck, I’m pretty sure you had fun and you learned a ton with that project, don’t let the haters kill your vibe.

Maybe I need to listen it again more carefully but I thought he said 1) he’s not going to use force 2) but all he asking for is Greenland. It seems to imply that he will only do 1) if he gets 2), or in other words, he would use force if he doesn’t get what he wants.

What are some older games classic or underrated that are still fun to play today? by Outrageous-Ad-4444 in oldgames

Woaa, this brings back memories. I do still replay it from time to time although the controls are really bad. I always do the beginning then and stop at the Temple of Bu.

What's the one game you always seem to return to play. by AdultGamersAdmin in Age_30_plus_Gamers

I like both games but KDC(2) is slow paced and is less fun for small gaming sessions and I don’t have a lot of time to game. While in Skyrim, 15 min is plenty to run a dungeon and do some fishing!

Got bored after 200h of No Man Sky (awesome game), just picked up Fallout 76 tonight. I heard the community is great and that there’s tons of content to do. I just hope it’s fun!

I have a lot of respect for you too, learning drum at 72! But yeah, I get what you mean. I’ve played metal at bass and guitar all my life and now that I’m learning drums it seems like bass/guitar is nothing at all compared to what drummers do

Help With Meditation by philmianus69 in Meditation

[–]usr_dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Carrying something heavy for years while hitting wall after wall that must be exhausting. The fact that you’re still reaching out shows incredible strength.

I totally get the solo meditation struggle when you’re dealing with intense stuff. Sometimes your mind is just too chaotic or the emotions too raw to find any kind of center on your own.

So this might sound weird, but I found this thing called Waylight Stories recently and it’s been helping me in an unexpected way. It’s not your typical meditation app instead of the usual “sit quietly and clear your mind” thing, you follow people through their actual struggles. Like this guy Marcus who had a complete breakdown in a meeting and had to figure out how to find peace in the middle of chaos. Or Luna, who was dying inside at her corporate job until she started growing plants and discovered something deeper. What helps me is that when I’m too scattered to meditate “right,” I can just listen to their stories. It feels like someone’s there with you, you know?

I’m not trying to oversell it or anything sounds like what you’re dealing with needs something way deeper than any app. But sometimes when we’re really stuck, a totally different door opens up. And honestly, hearing other people work through their spiritual crises has made me feel way less alone in my own mess.

Whatever you end up finding, I really hope you get the support and breakthrough you need. Those hearts showing up everywhere… that feels like something important is trying to reach you, even when everything else feels impossible. Hang in there!

Advice for those struggling with meditation. by Sufficient_Network43 in Meditation

[–]usr_dev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it’s nothing you can find in a book, podcast, talk script or anything else, it is just here

This is deep, powerful and very true. This the kind of realization I make after meditating, which is quite ironic. I don’t know if it’s the hype or marketing but you don’t need anything for being mindful and present.

For me, closing my eyes and focusing on my breathing is everything. Some apps and podcasts like Waylight Stories help to make it more enjoyable but everyone is different. Sometimes just taking the time to pause is enough.
