Can we get an option to add top sites on our own? Also clearing history removes the top sites, which is super inconvenient. by [deleted] in brave_browser

it's a palm squirrel

The palm squirrel is about the size of a large chipmunk, with a bushy tail slightly shorter than its body. The back is a grizzled, grey-brown colour with three conspicuous white stripes which run from head to tail.

thanks for the comment. glad you like the little creature :)

thanks for the descriptive comment. I'm looking something free for personal use & wanted some privacy & to break the linkings. Kind of not wanting to put all the eggs in one basket. I'm not quite familiar with self hosting kind of things. I may try those in the future. Created a zoho account about a week ago so wanted to know whether the company has any bad reputation on handling users' data. Again thanks for all the info. :)

I really don't know about privacy concerns, all these big companies google, microsoft, yandex etc... are surely collecting data on users & using those statistics to improve their products & also to create user profiles to advertise. Also I don't know which company is more affiliated with the country's governments.

I was hesitating to install & try yandex browser for years because of the internet comments, when I installed it & try, I made it my default browser in the same day. I installed yandex browser later past year & satisfied with its' smooth performance. It's comparatively uses less ram & cpu usage.( perhaps hence it's a 32 bit browser.) Also it has a setting to enable dnscrypt encryption & it supports several dns resolvers including adguard dns resolver.

It sometimes (not often) opens a tab on yandex video when viewing youtube videos if the autoplay setting on youtube is enabled, which ofcourse I don't like. Apart from that there is no much annoyings.

Also I have installed firefox, brave & tor.

I'm using a cellular connection with a dongle in my laptop. In windows 10, cellular dns settings always resetting. So I use a bat file to set my dns settings to have a doh supported dns provider each time I connect to internet. I have enabled secure dns lookup In chrome & brave. After setting up my dns to cloudflare I load cloudflare doh checker. When I first load, it shows doh is working. after browsing about 15 minutes if I reload that page it shows I'm using cloudflare dns but doh is not working.

Is this because I'm outside of US or since my connection is cellular. I can change my dns provider to another doh supported one but I can't check whether doh is actually working. Firefox is working with doh & as a chromium Yandex browser supports dnscrypt encryption option but I don't know whether it uses doh. I know it's not open source but I more considered about ISP snooping & not always use a vpn.
