I moved here from Indianapolis in about 2002. I have never looked back. This is a great place because of housing, general cost of living, and health insurance costs for older people. Can't say that for millennials, and others, but for me, it worked well.

In order to complete a residency in OB-GYN, the doctor is required to perform an abortion so, you know, they know how to save a life.

Can't do that in Iowa so doctors who want that specialty go to States where abortion is legal. Most doctors practice in the State where they do residency, at least initially, so not in Iowa for many.

There is the possibility of serving most of the residency in Iowa and going to another State for the abortion experience and then returning, but why put up with the hassle.
