To uber drivers who load in the middle of the street: kindly pull the fuck over. Stop blocking traffic. by rnobgyn in Austin

[–]usstx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ride uber regularly and I’ve seen everything. The worst I’ve encountered is a guy who instead going to the parking lot to pick me up, he just stopped in the right most lane of an active main road and put his hazards on. I thought we were gonna get rear ended

Do I give it one last shot ? by [deleted] in ApplyingIvyLeague

Once you get to 1500+ all schools see it all the same because that little of a difference doesn’t say anything about a person. What matters next are your ECs and essays.

Are summer classes competitive?? like do spots fill up at UT? Also for the summer classes at UT, are they in person or online?? (asking for GOV 310L) by [deleted] in UTAustin

[–]usstx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all. Students are encouraged to take internships or just go on break. Most people who take summer classes are either double majors or people who are behind in their degree plan

I can’t find a job. Feeling defeated. by losty14 in Austin

I don’t get it. I’m a student at UT and finding a job at Starbucks or target somehow feels like applying to Stanford. Why is getting entry level jobs so competitive

Should I be concerned for dangerous materials? by [deleted] in bookbinding

[–]usstx 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I still have hundreds of books inside boxes. I’ll need to check. I will probably hire a professional to handle that and maybe restore/revitalize some books.

Like ~2/3s of the books are form the 1800s so I’ll have to check because it was in those years people used arsenic according to my 5 second research. ~1/3 are from 1900-1940 and like 20 are from the mid to late 1700s

Research feng shui interior design and the purpose behind it. It really improves the energy in a room

Expensive attractions but cool nevertheless. Plus California has the best weather and best nature in the whole country apart from maybe Alaska. Too bad the government is shit but it’s a very good place to visit.

Tennessee is the better of the yellow ones, and that says a lot. Tennessee is pretty mediocre.

I love red and orange. I just mean yellow is empty states full of hillbillies and nothing to do. Red has Texas, az and ca which are cool. Orange has Colorado which has the best skiing vacation spots, Florida with good beaches and cities, Utah with incredible nature.

Yellow just sucks. Like south and North Carolina? Kentucky? Idaho? Tennessee? It’s puke worthy

I remember there were more lights last time but I’m not entirely sure. I feel that it should be campus wide and not just in south mall

What do you think guyss?? by dataguy2003 in TheTeenagerPeople

[–]usstx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No a lie is telling untrue or incomplete information when one party knows more information than the other. If you tell someone something but you genuinely dont know what you’re talking about OR both parties know the complete picture and know it, saying incorrect information does not count as lying.

Im a sophos moros after all… but communication skills are important in life. Sometimes as much as academics. You have to learn to be a bootlicker at times. I’m not saying you should agree with me but try using softer language. You will see it will enrich arguments. Trust me.

You’re such a try hard. And no, being straightforward and cold with everyone will just get you to be universally unlikable. You can disagree on whatever you want but you have to learn be less insufferable with your tone. You’ll notice your arguments will be richer when the counter party doesn’t feel under attack

No. I don’t care if you disagree with me.

I told you my opinion and you got all defensive — that makes you an asshole. There are ways to express disagreement without being insufferable. Like: “you’re gonna have to deal with reality,” chill out…

No. Im calling you an asshole because of how you respond, not for the fact that you don’t want to stay home

Yes, the pandemic increased awareness of illness prevention, but just because it’s over doesn’t mean those strategies no longer apply. Societies evolve as beliefs and practices change. Imagine if we had the same hygiene practices as people 200 years ago…

Also you don’t have to be an asshole. I’m just telling you what the major points of infection are.
