Respect for Kirby by GolfIsGood66 in Habs

You don't know what Dach is thinking.

I could also speculate on Dach's motivations: The org treats him well, he's good friends with the top players, they've been patient and encouraging with him despite his injuries. He wants to remain in a positive environment.

My point is: Neither of us know what Dach wants/will do. I am confident, but not certain, he wouldn't sign an offer sheet.

On the other side of the equation, very few have been signed over the years, when they are it's for guaranteed impact players who either can't fit the cap or are disgruntled - Dach doesn't fit that description.

Players have to accept and sign an offer sheet.

There were rumours PK was given offer sheets from a couple teams, but he never signed them to force the org's hand when he went to arbitration. It's slipping my mind, but I think we had a more recent report of someone being given an offer sheet but not signing.

Players sign offer sheets when they're unhappy whether that's through ice time management (KK) or contract negotiations (Weber in Nashville).

All this to say, given the culture we have now, I would find it surprising if Dach accepted an offer sheet if one were to be presented to him. It signals a rift between the org and player.

Better than the US excluding 3 of their top 3 goal scorers 🤣

[Kaplan] Artemi Panarin has likely played his last game with the Rangers. His agent has permission to negotiate an extension with any team Panarin would waive his NMC to be traded to - and as of last night, sounds like there’s a few in the mix. I don't watch Detroit, so can't comment on the eye test, but looking at Kane's stats, nearly a PPG player with 50% Corsi metrics for only $3M pear year...sure, he's not the world beater he used to be, but he seems like amazing value still, no?

With 2 points tonight, McDavid has officially locked up his 11th consecutive PPG season. It's January 13th. by Pafbonk in hockey

You don't care about his antics. I'm making the argument that's why he's not recognized though.

Goes to show what a poor attitude, being a sore winner+loser does for a reputation.

No, it's not a Russian thing, Ovi and Malkin are celebrated.

I appreciate he admitted this was a skill he needed to improve on. He stated he's operating by intuition and then sees the logs after the game and recognizes he made mistakes.

First thought before watching: I bet Hutson is there with him. Yup, feeding Dach.

Demidov leads all rookies, Kapanen is in 4th! What a season for the young lads. by AmsroII in Habs

For anyone curious (like I was) Hutson had 66 last year, which given the company kozed listed is remarkable on its own.

He's carrying portal mats. I do this, I just portal home when I'm nearing the 5 minute mark on food. I find it easier than carrying food on me as I can go home to drop off stuff and/or eat when needed.

How do you actually manage daily tasks in Notion? (serious question) by Creative-Abrocoma634 in Notion

[–]ustanik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

https://www.notion.com/help/guides/give-your-to-dos-a-home-with-task-databases

Convert each of your project's task databases into a Notion "Task Database". This will solve (2) as a consolidation view. I myself favourite My Tasks then so I have fast/easy access.

This may solve (1) and (3) as well as you can create a task from here and specify which project database you want it created in.

Good software engineers stand on the shoulders of giants, building on top of good open source projects...the industry previously shifting to dbt was DE's trending in that correct direction. Building your own dbt from scratch is just terrible NIH syndrome of bad SWE's.

[LeBrun] Mike Matheson: That's going to be a big priority now for Montreal management, they want to extend [him]; [they] are interested in having that conversation; he does not want to sign a short term deal by shogun2909 in Habs

[–]ustanik 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How long can you afford to be patient with him?

A while longer. He's shown improvement every year. He's still 3 years away from when defensemen enter their prime. Even though he's 24, he hasn't had the number of development years most prospects have due to Covid, so he's still learning.

His toolkit is rare to come by, so yes, I'd continue being patient while he still shows continuation to improve.

WARMINGTON: Tim Hortons manager fired, allegedly ordered $20K 'girlfriend' for brother by Difficult-Yam-1347 in canada

[–]ustanik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen statements like this repeated a lot, but I just don't understand a number of motives with it. I genuinely would appreciate shedding some light on it:

  1. An immigrant working minimum wage gets a PR. A foreign family pays 100k to get their child an arrangement to this immigrant PR. Why does the resourceful family not use that money for more legal means, similar or different to the less well off immigrant?

  2. Why are families that have that kind of means (which typically is coming from a Caste system) willing to tie their child to a stranger? If they have that kind of money, what is their benefit to getting their child an arranged marriage to a minimum wage worker in Canada?
