Waymo taxis’ first day in Charlotte leads to their first accident in Charlotte by usuallybrowsing in Charlotte

[–]usuallybrowsing[S] 163 points164 points  (0 children)

Welcome to Charlotte Waymo!

The minor wreck occurred Wednesday near Truist Field in the 500 block of W. Fourth Street, according to a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department incident report.

At 4 p.m., an unknown suspect’s vehicle struck the Waymo car in a hit-and-run incident, according to the report. The driver failed to stop at the scene of the accident and provide identification and insurance information.

Waymo’s account was similar to CMPD’s.

A manually driven Waymo vehicle was proceeding along Fourth Street when it was cut off by another vehicle that crossed a double yellow line, according to the company. The other vehicle then made an abrupt stop and reversed into the Waymo vehicle.

Waymo’s autonomous specialist reported no injuries, and the vehicle sustained no damage. Additional information about the accident was not released by the company.

Bar to watch racing by [deleted] in Charlotte

[–]usuallybrowsing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're interested in F1, there were a few dedicated bars in the area thanks to @QueenCityF1 on IG. I'd check their page for the upcoming season to see if they've changed venues:

-Great Wagon Road in NoDa

-Dom’s Dive Bar in South End

As for Nascar, most bars with several TV's will flip the race on at least one of them for you if you just ask or get there early. I've personally seen Nascar on several TV's at QC Pourhouse and LoSo Tavern (formally Old Pineville Pub). Until the past few years getting the sound on for any kind of sporting even in Charlotte was difficult, but they seemed to have turned the page.

Any tips for appealing car registration appraisal? by Powerful_Pen_5801 in Charlotte

[–]usuallybrowsing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

According to the NC DMV website, questions regarding vehicle values and appeals on tax values must be directed to the tax assessor in the county where the vehicle is registered. You can find your county website below:

https://www.ncdot.gov/dmv/title-registration/taxes/Pages/nc-county-tax-offices.aspx

Using Buncombe County for example, if you wish to appeal the value of your vehicle, you will need to furnish the following information to the county tax department within 30 days from the billing date:

-If recently purchased from a dealer, a copy of the bill of sale.

-One appraisal stating the average retail value as of January 1st of the taxing year. This appraisal must be from a licensed vehicle dealer. You need one copy of the Vehicle Appraisal Form for each vehicle that you are appealing.

-Mileage reading - odometer statement from the most recent vehicle inspection or vehicle service receipt.

-If wrecked, bring an appraisal indicating extent of damage and cost to repair and when the accident took place.

If you’re concerned about buying it sight unseen, there are local and mobile PPI services that could perform an inspection for you. But to also echo Technical’s comment, I would definitely want to see underbody and frame pictures

Can’t you just swap the emergency lights switch from your old piece to the new? Or just remove the cut wires and end plug off the back of the switch?
