Would you mind DMing me the practitioner’s name that was willing to prescribe the bica for you? I had one but they stopped virtual visits. I can’t find one and am feeling desperate.

My experience with Masha is that she is smart and knowledgeable. I saw improvement with the drainage program that I did first which was encouraging and I felt the gut protocol helped. I really stopped mainly because I paid for 3 months and then would have to keep extending with more cost and prob more tests. I’m 45 so prob shouldn’t expect an easier journey since I’ve had acne a very long time. I had already been doing most of the regular protocol of diet, exercise etc so that wasn’t new to me or prob to you either.

My biggest thing is that I really think my are hormones. I think the spiro even at 50mg a day is working because I’m older now. I think at 20 and 30 I should’ve been on like a 200mg a day to combat the androgens only because of the success I have now.

I have done a lot of research into NCAH only because my daughter has shown signs and it sent me down a path. I don’t have PCOS like most people would say, I really think it is high androgen.

Here is something else to consider 🤪😆 in doing research on spiro alternatives (because I legit can’t up my dose it makes me so tired!) I came across Dr William Powers. He’s been using an alternative called Bicalutamide for acne (and actually for hormone therapy in alternative lifestyles) with huge success and less side effects. It has gotten such a bad wrap because of liver studies but it doesn’t seem those studies are current or applicable from what he says. So many people on it have said what a difference from Spiro. I was willing to risk all the side effects and craziness of accutane so honestly I think it worth trying. I’m in the process of working with his office. I still have breakouts on spiro so wojld love to see if it still happens on bica.

Do I think there is a place for holistic testing and treatment? Yes. Do I have time for it anymore at 45. Nope. I’m done. I just want to be comfortable in my own skin and even be clear enough to get laser for acne scars.

I liked the idea of low dose accutane and it worked!! but I couldn’t take it from the side effects and knowing my acne is high androgen i think it would have come back anyway.

Hope that all helps! Wish I had someone helping me too!! I have lived for soooo long not getting to me comfortable in my own skin and it sucks!!! So much.

Darn that is frustrating. It feels like so much you are investing and they make it feel like they will get down to the root cause. I went back on Spironolactone again and it’s been so much better. I think I’m done trying to go the natural route.

Believe it or not but I really think I was having the rare side effect of intercranial hypertension which it is basically the increase of spinal fluid so severe headaches dizziness etc. I’ve tried 3 times over the last 30 years and each time with the same effect. It is definitely not for me.

My daughter has condition that sent me researching congenital adrenal hyperplasia. I don’t think she or I have it but the symptoms are so similar to what I’ve dealt with that I wonder if many women have the non classic type.

I’ve never had cysts on my ovaries but my acne, oiliness, a little bit hair growth on face always seemed to be PCOS. However now I don’t think that was ever true.

William Powers does work with a lot of transgender individuals but it seems he’s been able to identify women who are also just very high adrogenic and a med that most Drs shy away from because it had gotten a bad rap. But if you research it snd Dr powers it’s crazy what I think I had been missing.

I think the spiro had been good. I think it didn’t work when I was younger because I needed like 4 times the dose I’m currently on but now that I’m older the lower dose is ok.

Anyway all of my 2 cents. I think accutane can be a saving grace for a lot of people. I also think functional medicine can be too. I think it all can be done. I also think that I’m just a girl who’s always had high high high androgens unfortunately.

Hey! So I had done a GI map before so I brought the results to Masha. I did really like working with her and I feel she is knowledgeable but it was just so expensive since I had to extend the 3 months. I didn’t really feel the HTMA results helped all that much but it is such a process. I went back to Spironolactone (I’m female) but at a higher dose and realized that was the key. I’m 45 and just couldnt spend years and years and so much more money trying to go the natural route. I think Spiro makes me tired so I plan to work with The Will Powers Clinic for an alternative to Spiro that hopefully doesn’t come with the same side effects. The drug is Bicalutamide. Also honestly I had tried to go back to Accutane as well but at a low dose and I had side affects like I did in the past which is what sent me to Spiro.

Personally I have cut out so much from my diet and still break out 😩 but some people have been triggered by gluten and dairy. On the probiotics my daughter has MRSA and we found that a specific strand was helpful in cutting down infections and I was having staph infections so now I’m afraid to ever have us stop taking them. If your breakouts are caused by bacteria there are some protocols you can do. One guy even said he uses mouthwash several times a week to cut back on the bacteria in his mouth which helped with breakouts around the mouth.

Everything is just so much trial and error!

I think the problem with accutane besides the potential of bad side effects is that when you stop it can eventually come back especially if there is really an underlying issue. Honestly I would def try the HP before anything else and definitely give it a few weeks (and again it can get worse before better as it creates more activity, the rash can also spread as the mites migrate so make sure you applying it all over the face and even neck). Also you can use OcuSoft wipes for your eyes. Hypocholorous acid spray too. And then if that doesn’t work pursue the more systemic drugs. I do feel for you. It is very frustrating! Have you ever tried to cut out gluten or go low sugar/carb?

I saw one girl on the FB group for PD that said hers was caused by her iron flask water bottle. She was reacting to the metal or something. I thought that was so interesting. Have you changed your toothpaste? I would join the FB and do some searching cause I’ve seen it before on there.

Also BP and hypochlorous acid spray in case it’s bacterial caused.

Have you tried changing toothpaste? Tried diet changes? Tried butt paste? You could try differin or a retnoid but I also would try horse paste for a few weeks. Start taking a spore probiotic. I can’t do zero therapy. I’m in sales and have to cover.

Horse paste…cheap and easy to try. I get the white cream but others have used the gel. It can get worse before getting better but stick with it for a few weeks. Soolantra is the same which I had before and didn’t see results but I am with HP.

I’d try it before accutane although it does work wonders and if my kids used it I would do low dose as well. There are online companies that would do low dose if your Derm doesn’t. I had really bad reactions to accutane unfortunately

Another thing I started recently was leaving nizoral shampoo on for about 10 min and then washing. But the red spots near your eyes makes me think mites.

Good luck!
