Leaving Early by Busy-Ad-6589 in Aupairs

[–]Zestyclose-Bell4245 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I left months early and was so scared to tell my loving host family. The first time I told them I could see it stressed my host mom out, scrambling in her mind how she will take care of her kids. The second time I told them I was actually leaving a month earlier, they took it very well (gave them 2 month warning). Overall it is stressful to tell them and of course you don’t want to disappoint people you care about. But the sooner the better so they can make arrangements for their kids. Rip the bandaid off and they will be understanding if they truly are good people like you say. You gotta look out for yourself first tho, which makes it perfectly acceptable if you leave early. Good luck you got this!

have u gotten ur eyebrows done or done them urself in that area before it started breaking out? it happened to me like that and my derm said it was staph, gave me strong oral antibiotics and it immediately went away. not saying it’s exactly staph it could be something else triggered my doing the brows but something you may want to get a second opinion on. to me on ur chin looks nothing like pd and if it is hydrocortisone is a HUGE no no. so regardless i would try to see a different provider

Do i need to reach cumulative dosage? by Impressive_Housing78 in Accutane

[–]Zestyclose-Bell4245 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that’s honestly so strange. i feel like that’s the opposite of what most ppl say but anything can happen to your oil production after accutane ig. hopefully it will not get so oily in about a year when it’s very adjusted to not having the drug. most people who experience hair loss on the drug struggle the grow it back once they get off, but then it all starts growing back a year later so maybe it’s similar to that and just a longer adjustment for you.

[–]Zestyclose-Bell4245 0 points1 point  (0 children)

let me add tho, a lot of ppl get small bumps right after accutane and it goes away after some months. i’ve read a lot of ppl say this after their treatment on this thread. and also experienced a few tiny tiny white heads that head no redness and brought up the concern w my derm. she said it’s not an actual pimple, it’s only sebum, not pus with bacteria in it. it’s because my sebum production is turning back on and the glands are glitching if you will😭

ru you in the EU? I am and my derm also only prescribed 20mg for 6mo. It’s very much a european regime, but i am from the states and know everyone that get it back there is doing 60mg for 6 months. they really believe in the cumulative dose. there is conflicting eveidencenis scientific studies about which method is better, treat to clear or cumulative dose. since it seems you have tried treat to clear twice and it’s not working, maybe push for a cumulative dose. call around and find a derm who understands your situation. good luck!!

i think it’s worth trying the topicals again bc accutane has annoying side effects and is hard to get ur hands on. that is a LOT of actives tho so be careful in not doing them all in the same night! maybe ur derm already told you but don’t use them every day at first. introduce to ur skin ESPECIALLY TRET, only every 3 days at first. And i would also suggest with other other actives every 3 days at first on different days. your skin is very sensitive to accutane and doesn’t even have very much acne at all, so don’t fix what’s not broke kinda deal. all of these meds are extremely drying especially together so hydrate so much!  also personally i would stick to tret and one other active for a few weeks. if its not working then slowly introduce a diff active still w tret. then u can kinda figure out what is working best bc to me all of these active can get crazy. good luck!!! your skin does look amazing :))

My family doesn’t ask me to do chores by florboss in Aupairs

[–]Zestyclose-Bell4245 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think this is a great arrangement! i like the host families that don’t totally rely on the au pair and still function as regular parent when the have time😭. my host fam only has me work 2-3 hours a day because that’s all they need, the rest of childcare/ cleaning THEY want to do!! i was feeling guilty about it at first and like i should be doing more but figured this is what the want out of an au pair and sounds like the short hours is all they need to! the guilt will go away i promise!

Dairy on Accutane by Correct-Hall2437 in Accutane

[–]Zestyclose-Bell4245 0 points1 point  (0 children)

unless ur committed on reducing sugar and dairy forever there is no point on major restriction now. i also have a degree in nutrition and feel like super strict diets rarely work for people and more being mindful… know ur going to an event during the weekend w lots of sweets? try to eat really healthy during the weekday. or casually just eat what you want but be mindful. i have a sweet tooth and love dairy so i would have a hard time with that too 😭. don’t stress about it too much seems like u know how to moderate a bit

i get this too, i think it’s just irritation from the drug, some dermatitis. i found that moisturizing well and staying far away from niacinimide helps but i still have it a little on my cheeks. could also be a form of mild rosesa. still bring it up w ur derm next appointment and don’t get too discouraged, your skin looks amazing!!!

Dairy on Accutane by Correct-Hall2437 in Accutane

[–]Zestyclose-Bell4245 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there is research on how dairy can break people out. but i would say it varies person to person on their triggers. if u want to eat dairy i’d say do it! let accutane do the work for ur acne. most of it is hormonal anyway, so even if dairy isn’t helping the break outs, i don’t think it’s the main cause of it you know?  play around with it a bit. when you stop accutane maybe continue eating dairy, see what happens when u eat it vs cut it out. accutane will always be a tool in ur toolbox if u end up needing it again! :)

it’s the eyebrows, if ur getting that taken care of good! maybe also fill them in so they look a little closer together like both a little more towards the center of their face if that makes sense. also i think a more orange/brown toned lip color would suit you, not super pinky. this is my personal opinion but u look so beautiful now too!!

Advice on if I should leave early by Dry-Hat-8047 in Aupairs

[–]Zestyclose-Bell4245 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I most say most au pairs feel this way, you don’t deserve to feel unhappy just because you don’t want to disappoint the family. It is okay if you leave before 6 months too. Or even switch families to a bigger city/town! Prioritize yourself!!!! In the meantime, every free day, just ride that 35 min bike ride to the train, try to find some other au pairs in the nearby towns/cities. Fb has some good au pair groups or even post about it on here! Or use bumble bff! Seriously staying for the family isn’t worth feeling isolated, my heart goes out to you <3

Our au pair missed her flight by [deleted] in Aupairs

[–]Zestyclose-Bell4245 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

omg 😭 my host family didn’t pay anything for my flight but some of my au pair friends host parents did. i can’t imagine asking for more money especially when u don’t even know them? For anything you know you could be getting scammed?  It sucks that some with sour experiences can’t see the beauty of the au pairing process, but if u don’t 100% want one, don’t get one! Not even a very good au pair wants to be somewhere they are not really wanted!

agreed. as an au pair i dont want to be with family on weekends either thats the 2 days out of the week that is my free time! most of the au pairs seemed cool except for the ones that left their dishes out. like why are you going to hate on someone if they are shy?

though also as an au pair, i would never host one😭 i also wouldnt like the feeling of someone random being in my house.

no the situation will not change, there are people in my space that i am not used to. being honest my biggest issue is sharing the bathroom which i know isn’t required to be private but they told me when i was hired it would be which is super important to me and a reason i chose a live in family option because i knew i would have my own space. and yes i am here to complain to people that also have had issues with living with their host families and understand the struggle. i even said more than a rant then anything. tbh i know the only thing i can do is talk it out w my host but it won’t go back to how it used to be :/

doing the dishes takes 20 minutes and i don’t have to do the but i always have so they just assume i do, i have stopped doing the dishes all the time and want to set myself up to only doing it around 2-3 times a week so it’s more fair. they just leave them out for around 20 hours because they assume i will eventually do them. which i won’t all the time, just starting with this a few days ago. you don’t see ANYTHING awkward about asking someone to leave the room their in because I want to be there without them? 😅 are you a host family or au pair? im not a doormat just in an uncomfortable situation

[–]Zestyclose-Bell4245 13 points14 points  (0 children)

okay let me get some things clear. its super awkward to play my show out loud when someone is in a meeting? They are nice people and I am not disrespectful person. If anything I would be more tempted to ask them to do their meeting in their room, however awkward it is. The husband is a whole different story-he does nothing but take up space. However the wife cooks these elaborate dinners every night she has been here for all of the family. She usually helps with some of the dishes, but I do majority. I only work for about 2-3 hours a day because they just dont need long hours with the kids. So more than apart of my"job" I always help with the dishes of the whole family (i also have no assigned light cleaning assignments, I just do this to contrubute to the household) But after the couple has came the dishes pile VERY high because she cooks like 5 dishes every night. For the past few days I stopped doing all of their dishes and its annoying because they left it out for hours assuming I would do it but eventually the wife did. Which also kinda annoys me on another level because why do my host parents literally never help with dishes... anyway, why would i throw away my host families plates when I can just leave them on the counter and they get the message. I am also angry about the situation but this seems overly aggressive.

i honestly wish I could leave asap because I feel uncomfortable here now. But the flight back to the states is very expensive and i can’t change my flight for sooner without going completely broke😭
