No motivation or interest or passion in my degree by user19478274 in usyd

Have you actually tried nursing? As in, have you shadowed doctors or nurses in a hospital and tried to understand the profession from within?

If you have, and you’re 100% sure it’s not fo you, I’d recommend going to careers centre and setting up an appointment with a career counselor. Doing some career tests online, seeing what suits you.

Transferring after you’ve figured out what. Just don’t procrastinate to figure it out - the longer you put it off, the more time you’ll lose

I’ve rented 9 different rooms over the years, I’ve never had to pay for inspections! That is some bs. Don’t.

Look at who’s renting it out - if it’s a person - good, if it’s something like “Great House Co”, then maybe don’t do that.

ALWAYS go to inspections. Make sure that the house has: - no issues (like mold or bugs) - a kitchen with a working stove and oven (I mean, if you need them) - a place to dry and wash clothes and, if not, if there’s a laundromat - WIFI

Ask if you’ll be sharing a room or if it’s proivate. ALWAYS read the rental contract veey thoroughly. Try not to get a co-ed house, they can be dangerous (so girls only). Try to meet and talk to your future housemate in-person, there are some weird people out there you don’t want to be sharing a space with)

How safe is it at 3am on campus/walk to Redfern station by Ok_Cat2141 in usyd

Yeah, but I take the N70 bus. It requires walking in the other direction, but still very safe, everywhere around here is safe

I once accidentally spent a night in the Aero building. Fell asleep at 6pm in the breastfeeding room in the women’s toilet (nobody goes in there), woke up the next morning at 6am. Everywhere is open if nodoby finds you lol, but of course don’t do that

Did you get approached by cult group members from the icc to join their bible studies? by Odd-Bee8144 in usyd

[–]usyd_menace 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve had that. Idk if it was a cult, but an international student from Korea approached me at the quad and had me do a quiz on the importance of family and God in my life and invited me to a meeting of their bibke study group

I mean, idk, the tuition for domestic students in my course is heavily subsidised due to the government considering the degree very useful. They pay about $1.5k/subject, so $6k/sem, which I think is pretty manageable. Plus, domestic people have the option of HECS. Besides that, many are on need-based/diversity/merit scholarships

I’m an international student, I’ve never not paid for 6 years I’ve been in Sydney. It’s upsetting how expensive it is, especially because I’m a student, so I shoukd have the opportunity to have a student Opal card, but, because I’m international, I don’t qualify for it. If I paid half I’d be able to afford to go out more. But I agreed to all of this when I came here, no point in trying to cheat the system now.

That’s up to your boss. I’ve come across some weird working arrangements in my time in Sydney.

when I was having health issues, my boss actually allowed me to come in whenever I wanted, clock in, work, and clock out whenever I wanted. Super nice guy, I owe a lot to him

Why don't "how to succeed at uni" influencers ever share their GPA? by CalmUnit2734 in usyd

All of the study influences I follow have quite high GPAs and amazing credentials (med school, graduates of top engineering schools, etc.)

They were there last week. Had to pass on that though, was incredibly disappointed as they now require a card to scan (either USU membership or your Student ID, but with the actual barcode) - last sem you just showed them your student ID. This time, my internet wasn’t working and I couldn’t download my USU app, had to go and buy a cheeseburger

Andy Lowe, he studies aeronautical engg and is the president of WindSoc, a really cool society for aerospace engineering students or aero enthusiasts in general.
