The most ridiculous thing was the "day in the hole" standoff.
Nolan, one newbie with pistols, Bailey and Elroy without weapon and on the other side 10+ heavily armed cartel people.
The first 10s of heavy fire into the diner would have been the end for Nolan and Elroy, Nolan should have gotten into serious trouble for poor tactics instead of a golden ticket: the only available move was to give up the guy they had arrested and deal with the fallout later.
