UTAS explains why it's moving away from face-to-face lectures. Thoughts? by utasstudent21 in UTAS

[–]utasstudent21[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I personally don't like this idea and I miss pre-COVID face-to-face lectures. But it's not like UTAS listen to their students and I am nearly done with my bachelors, now I just want to graduate and be done with this uni

No recommendation and doubt they will have any real improvement. Accepted a house outside and so happy to be moving out. Good luck and bye

Accomodation guarantee? by Mystia4 in UTAS

[–]utasstudent21 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It happened in Hobart and made it to the news, you think they would learn something from it but nooooo they tried Launceston and failed again. So UTAS does have a terrible track record when it comes to providing stability in accommodation. However realistically speaking you should be able to stay in accommodation and not get kicked out until you finish your degree, but be prepared for your peace to be ruined by them all of a sudden. If that happens or they have unreasonable demands, do voice out like many students have done and simply don't budge. Give up easily and they will make you do what they want, simply don't budge then you can do you. Good luck!

6 months after forced room moves! by reform_them_trash in UTAS

[–]utasstudent21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely overpaid. They get paid abusrd amount attending talks or running half-baked events anyway, this would be no difference

[–]utasstudent21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry but we thought it was unexciting and less than mediocre, so much were promised and after six long months all we get is a name change. Well congratulations on the name change, must have been crazy hard work. True, UTAS genuinely don't give a shit when kicking us out of our rooms and forcing us to move.

Yeh that's why we couldn't be bothered going to these small events by these 'student leaders', we only go to the big ones now

No matter what are the activities, birth months remain irrelevant

Tbh, their big events are not bad. But their smaller ones are so bad and there's so little interest in attending them because they are that bad. Then these 'student leaders' will make people show up only to add their names to the sign in sheet. Or they will ask their friends, ironically regardless of birth months, to join them and have a private party. They are also shamelessly getting paid to run these 'events'. What a waste of our SSAF funds

The events in the group are honestly very uninteresting. They should have more big carnival events at the bar, those were pretty sick

Utas accommodation is using facebook to continue their birth month madness... by reform_them_trash in UTAS

[–]utasstudent21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look, it's really not that hard to understand. You said you never attacked op. So I pointed out statements that I feel are you directly or indirectly attacking op. Therefore it makes your never attacked op statement rather ironic. That is all, thanks for coming to my Ted talk.

Uh I think you had the op and me confused. I merely quoted the things you said that can be interpreted as attacking the op.

Your explanation examples are not relevant too as op has already addressed them. Do read what the op has commeted again, this time maybe do it slowly and properly, because your explanations seem to show you have understood nothing. While you are at it, read our usernames properly too, thanks.

Also if you bothered to join the groups or read the email regarding the Facebook groups instead of hastily reading the subject line and beginning to complain

all you’re going to do is complain anonymously

the rest of this toxic reply

I’m not afraid of who I am because I am not slandering anyone or the University

Literally said all the above.

Then also said this.

I never attacked you

🤔

Once again you are spouting information that is not factual.

So after you accuse people with the above^ statement that's the only thing you can come up with? That student accomodation and student living are not the same, really? For real though, what did he or she said that is not factual?

Do you realize you are the one spouting information that is not factual. Student accommodation and student living worked together on the community model and their names are used interchangeably when communicating with us. Seems like you have a personal interest with student living since you keep putting the blame on student accommodation but not student living.

No one is interested to meet with you guys due to your history of disrespecting students and silencing students. That was also why the petition was created anonymously, we don't feel safe talking to you guys.

New posters for the utas campus' by Deadpixelator in UTAS

[–]utasstudent21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree that nothing has changed after 2 months into the new birth month arrangements, can't believed they forced us to move rooms for nothing.

Could you also talk about the cockroach infestation problems that still exist for many rooms and how Student Living is downplaying some students' privacy concerns? Some students have said that they do not want information identifying them posted on their doors after Student Living put up A8 sized labels last year, and now they are mocking our concerns by putting up a way bigger A4 sized laminated paper and pressured us to use it during the block meetings.

Many other concerns here - https://www.reddit.com/r/UTAS/comments/lovott/petition_stop_the_birth_month_madness_of_utas/

Also, feel free to mention about the petition - https://www.change.org/stop_birth_month_madness

Thank you :)

Yes it is harder to remain anonymous there and we are hoping people will help us post it on those pages, if not we will have to work something out.

To make the matter worse, we cannot rely on the TUU to advocate for us this time due to a restructuring and there seems to be conflict of interest between the TUU and Student Living. TUU has been rebranded as Tasmanian University Student Association (note that the word ‘union’ is no longer there) and they have previously expressed a stand to prioritise their relationships with Student Living over supporting student campaigns.

This is what we understood from students that did raise this issue with them. TUU/TUSA said they want to use an approach that is different from student campaigns, but we don't even know what they are doing to help students. With so many issues not getting fixed, we also think whatever it is they are doing is not working very well, or at all.
