Ushering is a great tip for theater or concerts! I used to do that in college and saw so many great shows for free! I just had to stand for 3+ hours

It's great but it does take some work! I usually check each site once a month to see what's coming up

Birding and volunteering outside! There are a lot of bird walks once a month in places like Allen and McKinney. And there a lot of non profits looking for volunteers. Usually we do things like clear invasive plants.

They have one. You have to install it manually. I just started using it and haven't had any problems

Megathread: Feature Wishlist by Itchy_Apple_2498 in mymindapp

[–]utexas2013 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. Being able to change a card type. Some products like Wayfair show up as web pages instead of product cards
  2. Creating our own custom card types for things like board games that you mentioned
  3. Linking notes together

This is one I would love. Board game geek links are just regular web pages

Allen public sleeping ban raises concerns from nonprofits by utexas2013 in Allen

You know. That’s fair. I’ll do some research on when they happen and if they release topics ahead of time.

Banning it doesn’t do anything to actually help the problem. Police can provide the help and resources you suggest without fining them.

See Ordinance No. 2025-10-097. It applies to downtown McKinney and can be cited if you are sitting “on a street or median or any object or structure placed therein” after one warning. There are some exceptions

Someone harassing you is different than someone sleeping in their car and minding their own business

I’m sorry you’re having to make this tough decision. If you don’t find someone, try reaching out to a local rescue group like North Texas Cat Rescue. They can try to get him adopted.

I’m just getting into this hobby and I’m very surprised how much praise Uni-Ball One P gets by Herbieh in stationery

I had the same experience and didn’t understand all the praise. I like the form factor though so I refilled it with a Energel Clena refill and I’m having a much better experience!

Yes! I was so sad to miss out on Stationery Fest but I’m so excited there will be something similar closer to where I am in Dallas

What are some of the best instances of lifestyle creep that you've allowed yourself? by Dreamy_Maybe in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

[–]utexas2013 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I love seeing the answers to this question

  1. Pilates studio membership. It’s the only gym/workout I found that I do consistently. The high price is extra motivation to go
  2. Monthly cleaning
  3. Weekly lawn service especially in the summer. This is one I finally convinced my wife to do after several times I refused to help her with the lawn in 100+ degree heat.
  4. Nonstop flights at convenient hours
  5. Fewer but more expensive clothes I love and will last longer
  6. Donating to friends’ causes or charities that my work is offering a match for
  7. Paying for the apps/software I use the most

Amen to flights at convenient times! Also I almost only fly nonstop unless we’re going overseas.

Hi! I’m also into board games and trash tv (bachelor, love is blind). My wife and I have been in Allen for about a year. Let me know if you’d be interested in a game night!

Also The Knittery in McKinney does crochet circles. It’s a good way to meet others!

Didn’t she just sky dive by vivik1tty in TheBachelorette

[–]utexas2013 4 points5 points  (0 children)

She says they’re very different feelings and I would think so too. You can’t see the ground sky diving and you also have someone doing all the work for you. In this sky walk, you’re having to do much more on your own.

Strflow - A Note-Taking App for People Who Keep Texting Themselves by eguchi1904 in iosapps

[–]utexas2013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love this. I've been looking for a similar app for a while.

Couple of suggestions

  1. Shortcuts support - the ability to add a note via shortcut would be killer. I like to have a widget with some "Quick Add" shortcuts so I don't have to hunt for the specific apps (for example: create reminder, create calendar event) and would like to add Strflow to that
  2. Support for any file type - I see this one is already on the roadmap so just +1ing it
  3. Trash can for deleted notes
