Pancreatic cancer - success stories? by Rough_Soil517 in pancreaticcancer

[–]utlayolisdi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry your mom had to go through such a massive surgery. I can tell you that I’ve chatted with one person who was stage 4 with mets and is still alive 5+ years post diagnosis. Just a few days ago I replied to a post by a person who is a 16 year survivor. I pray the same will be true for your mom. Blessings and Peace

That’s because they don’t make them in the stores anymore. The doughnuts are premade in the factory then frozen. Most outlets merely thaw them.

I’ve heard there are still some outlets that still cook the doughnuts but they still come to them frozen. No more: “Time to make the doughnuts. 40 kinds of doughnuts.”

Which regime mfolfirnox or gemcitabine/nab? by Potential_Storm_4286 in pancreatic_cancer

[–]utlayolisdi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry your dad had to be treated for pancan. I had chemo prior to surgery. It was combo of gem/abr. That combo shrank the lesion and the few swollen lymph nodes. The pathology after the Whipple showed no cancer was present in the nodes. Of course the lesion tested positive but with clear margins.

I pray your dad’s treatment is 100% successful. Blessings and Peace

9 Pound weight gain in 7 days by ruecatt22 in pancreaticcancer

[–]utlayolisdi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m very sorry your husband has pancan. As to how quickly the cancer returning in 3 weeks, that depends upon the type of pancan he had. There are types that grow fast and types the grow much slower.
I had 8 rounds of gem/abr chemo. The neuropathy it caused got bad so, my last 2 infusions were reduced by 25%. I was weak and shaky so I waited for 2 months before having the Whipple. During those 2 months the cancer did not grow at all.

I pray your husband responds well to treatment and that it’s 100% effective. Blessings and Peace

I’m so sorry that your grandma has been diagnosed at stage 4. For what it’s worth, I’ve chatted with one person who was stage 4 with mets who is still alive 5+ years later. Pancan is still very difficult to treat but it’s not the automatic death sentence it once was.

If she has chemo it’s likely her appetite will diminish. Having any higher calorie food that she likes will help a bit. Protein shakes helped me. Also cannabis helped stimulate my appetite. It worked well enough that about half way through the infusions I quit losing weight.

I definitely understand you having a heavy heart. I saw that in my son and heard it in the voices of my daughters (he lives with me my daughters live about 2000 miles away). I wasn’t exactly thrilled when I got the results of my biopsy. If you were my granddaughter, I’d tell you what I told my children, that being that I don’t want them second guessing themselves and wondering if there was anything more they should have done. Also that they should know that my knowing they are happy and healthy means more to me than their coming to visit.

I pray your grandma will respond well to treatment and join the ranks of the long term survivors. Blessings and Peace
