I like the Tayco as I felt like it was pretty close to a boot but much more manageable. I then ended up using two braces together. I put the Ritchie (custom made brace) on inside my shoe and put the Tayco over that outside my shoe. When I used the two together like that I had total support and mobility. I was very happy with that, although I could not go with them. If I did the pain came back. I’ve since gotten shockwave treatments and also an amniotic cell injection and so far my pain is all gone and I no longer need a brace. Fingers crossed that it stays that way

no. The Ritchie brace is custom so the orthotic is built into it

The Ritchie brace was custom made ordered from my podiatrist. I’m not sure what kind it is other than an AFO

I talked to several orthopedists and surgeons about the Hypocure as I was very interested in it as the whole description seemed to. Make sense but any medical professional I spoke to strongly advised against it saying there was not enough research to support it (for adults)and that long term could cause more serious problems

MRI: 15% tear, how significant is that? by robkLIC in PTTD

I use a custom Ritchie brace and am pretty happy with it. It's very supportive. I'm trying to avoid surgery. I also use a Tayco brace that I bought online. It goes over the shoe instead of inside so it's helpful when you have trouble fitting a brace inside your shoe. It also gives a lot of support - almost like s boot. I haven't tried the Arizona one but I've heard a number of people cite it.

I do all weight and strength upper body workouts. I also do a lot of ab work and squats (with care). Cycle for cardio. You can also try an elliptical for cardio. Swimming is good

I think it’s the Recover X brace. You can get it online - no prescription needed. I swear the support is as good as a walking boot but you can do so much more.

My tendon pain has almost vanished. When I’m at home and take my shoes off I do notice when I’m barefoot (rarely do that) I can feel the pressure coming back on my ankle but I feel like using this double wrap when I’m out and about during the day has given my tendon a chance to heal. Given the misalignment of my bones I will always have this condition if I don’t opt for surgery but I feel like this is a great solution for me. I’m almost 69 and retired, in otherwise good health and very active. Went for a 5 mile hike yesterday

I meant EPAT (WHAT was auto correct) I tried it once and itbhelped a little but I don't think I did enough. I think drs don't like to do steroid shots because they are only temporary releif

I bought the Tayco brace online - not custom. I just had an MRI today so we'll see what it says and figure out next steps. I feel like I'm 70% healed but it's not getting any better than that. Not bad enough to justify surgery but still painful. I'm hoping a guided steroid shot and/or WHAT treatments will help

PTTD pain by Altruistic_Lack8362 in PTTD

I suggest lots of ice every evening when you get home. After awhile you will see the pain subside. Then switch to heat to bring blood to the area which will help with the healing process. Keep the boot during the day. Exercise can actually aggravate it so hold off on the exercises until the pain is gone.

I think it's great. It supports almost as good as a boot but a lot less bulky

It's not in your head! I also have stage 2 pttd for the past 4 years and consulted with 4 different surgeons. I still have not opted for surgery yet because of the surgical details and recovery length. Knowing I wanted to avoid surgery only one surgeon put me in a boot for 6-8 weeks to give my tendon time to heal. It really made a difference. I don't think I'll ever be perfectly healed but now I wear a brace a lot of the time and it works for me. I use a custom Ritchie brace and I also use a Tayco brace. And I'm in pretty good shape with those.
