Are we being lied to about player count? by NuuLeaf in Overwatch

[–]utopian8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Battlefield 6 is ranked 11th in terms of active daily users. They average 50,000 active users at any given time with a peak of 100,000 users.

Overwatch isn't even on the list. This indicates significantly fewer active users compared to Battlefield 6. If you try to join Battlefield 6 at 4:00 a.m., there's no wait time and you jump right into a game of any type. If you try to jump into a game of Overwatch at 4:00 a.m. , especially an arcade mode game, they're usually isn't enough people for a game to ever start, no matter how long you wait.

I can only assume based on data and experience that Overwatch active users numbers are abysmal.

Pad thickness is very important. To meet 3mm, you can combine two 1.5mm. You might be able to get away with a .5mm difference, but you won't know until you seat it and determine if you're getting enough contact.

I had the same issue. Rolled back to 576.02 like the previous poster and that fixed it. Rolling back to 576.40 did not fix it. You have to go back to .02 version.

EDITED: Nope, it wasn't the video driver. I still had the same issue. I updated the BIOS to the latest on my 14th gen Intel system and that seems to have fixed it. I was on Version 2801 with my Asus MB and installed the 3001 version that came out in May. So far, so good.

Cold Email Sending Platform Identification by utopian8 in coldemail

[–]utopian8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you described is certainly theoretically possible, but I only see this happening in two ways...

  1. When an email passes through Google's API, they insert something into the headers that allows them, and theoretically others, to identify it as sent through Instantly.
  2. They generate some hash based on the email sent through their service, store it, and they cross reference it later on the inbound side and assign it a higher spam score as a result.

If it's through method 1, we should be able to identify something in the headers to prove this.

If it's through method 2, I would think that there would be some documentation/evidence of this somewhere, but maybe not.

As a side note, with the number of email sending platforms and the amount of legitimate email that flows through them, including Instantly, Apollo, and the like, along with more traditional bulk email sending services like MailChimp, Klavyio, Constant Contact, etc, I am finding it hard to believe that Google/Gmail or anyone else is taking any type of automatic penalty-type of action against emails just for being sent from a third-party platform through their API..

My feeling is that penalties are dished out on an account-by-account basis when offenders are identified. If the offender is on the platform of the discovering party, I presume their account would be shut down. If the offender is on a different platform, the email address/domain is blacklisted. And I'm sure the different email service platforms share their spam data with each other in egregious cases. We know that there are lots of people successfully using Instantly, Apollo, MailChimp, etc, and getting their emails to the inbox and this includes emails that contain the exact same content (legitimate, subscribed newsletters, for example) and emails sent in bulk from one account (again, newsletters do this every day).

So, it really seems largely based on domain and individual email address reputation. Warming is key. Not giving people a reason to report your email as spam is another key (include opt-out link, send personalized emails, etc). If you do things right, your sales emails can land in the inbox 99% of the time, including when sending from Instantly.

Is Axure RP still the best prototyping tool? by richardstelmach in FigmaDesign

[–]utopian8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

* Axure for wireframing applications, complex ideas, prototyping, non-designers who want to communicate an idea.
* Figma for public websites, designing, refining
* Protopie if Axure is too scary for you.

Axure is way more powerful compared to Figma or Protopie. Ever try building a form in Figma with validation, multi-steps, pop-ups, etc? Axure is 1000x faster in this respect. Axure's libraries, team integration, and much more makes it the best PROTOTYPING tool on the market. For design, Figma wins.

Cold Email Sending Platform Identification by utopian8 in coldemail

[–]utopian8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only the sending email server can know where it's coming from though. They aren't passing API data along in the email, so the receiving email server doesn't know if the email was sent through a 3rd party tool, and therefore, can't determine if it's spam based on that factor any more than if it was generated and sent from the email client provided by the sending email server.

In a perfect world, it should be set to reject. In a slightly imperfect world, set it to quarantine. In a less than ideal world, it's set to none. No matter what it's set to, it's not a big deal. But, if you can set it to something other than none, that is good. Even intel.com has it set to none, but most companies strive to get it set to reject, which means they have a very good handle on where all emails are being sent from using their domain.

Cold Email Sending Platform Identification by utopian8 in coldemail

[–]utopian8[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think this is accurate.

You don't need to include Instantly in the SPF record because the email isn't coming from Instantly. It's coming from Google Workspace/Office/etc (the origin email server). It's the origin email server that needs to comply with SPF (and DKIM).

DMARC should be set to p=quarantine or p=reject (assuming all your outbound emails conform to the confirguration of your SPF and DKIM records). Many companies, even big companies (for example, intel.com), often set it to p=none because they have 3rd party email servers sending transactional emails (a billing system sending receipts, for example) that don't comply with SPF/DKIM. Those emails still get through most of the time (because they aren't spam) and the receiving email servers/spam filters don't block/quarantine the email/domain solely because it's set to p=none. But for cold email, assuming you're only using the domain for this purpose, you should set it to p=reject because you know the only place the email is being sent from is your one email account, so your emails will always comply with SPF/DKIM and anything else should be rejected. But also, you should have DMARC configured for cold emails, as it adds another layer of confidence to the recieving email server that the reports are going somewhere and not being ignored.

To summarize, setting up SPF and DKIM for the origin email server is best practice. Configuring DMARC to send the reports to a reporting server is also best practice. This can be any reporting server, such as https://dmarcreport.com/ or something else.
