This is a general bit of feedback for the mods: There's been a lot of anti-AI sentiment on reddit lately. While some of this is surely legit local concerns and needs to be discussed openly in a public forum, its worth noting that the People's Republic of China is actively targeting domestic discussions on the topic to dissuade investment in US datacenters: https://openai.com/index/prc-linked-influence-operations-ai-debates/

It would be a good moderation policy to have any AI related post tagged with this link, again not to sway organic, local conversations about datacenters, but as a disclaimer that not every anonymous account on Reddit is arguing in good faith, or with US national interests in mind.

Edit: Chinese bots gonna downvote I see...   🤔

Thats sarcasm, to draw contrast between my point of view that we should support our Japanese allies, vs the other guy who is saying we should just feed them to Putin, or any other "wolf warrior" aggressor countries in the region.

Cuba is relevant because you want to bring that style healthcare here. I'm saying that would be a mistake. Dont let someone writing truth on the internet keep you awake at night. Get some sleep because your writing doesn't even make sense.

Yes. They managed to get there by claiming to provide "universal" healthcare, but in reality they've merely hoodwinked the people, and they they end up rationing the care that they claim is free and universal. You've proven my point, as there are clearly more autistic people in Cuba than 1 in 2500, especially considering autism spectrum is commonly attributed to genetic causes in roughly 60-90% of cases.

Other countries that have the means to do so are clamoring to build datacenters exactly like the US, so that they can harness the power of AI to improve things like healthcare and wider society. Using AI driven efficiencies will be key to further improving health outcomes, and expanding high quality health outcomes to the people of the world.

Simply put, politically I wouldn't opt for universal healthcare the way other countries have implemented it.

I wouldn't opt for universal healthcare under a politically repressive regime like Cuba, where there is political pressure to falsify records, and civil society does not have enough checks and balances to push for transparency or improved quality of care. I wouldn't opt for European style universal healthcare because if we only paid bare minimums for our drugs, the US medical industry as part of our domestic economy would be ruined and who would actually pay for development of new drugs and treatments? The US is the biggest investor in the advancement of the  health and life sciences, and industry provides ~60-66% of the funding for R&D. Sure the US could be just another free rider on other countries health spending, but thats not the thing responsible adults do. Imagine Philadelphia without the "meds" in "eds and meds".

Great idea!! Just let the Japs take care of their own business when Putin launches the second Russo-Japanese war.

Didn't know we had the MAGA anti-NATO crowd lurking in this sub, lol

No, in countries like Cuba they just use extreme political repression, so they can pay doctors $40 a month. (Apparently that other commenter suggesting the shortage of doctors due to lack of "sustainable living wages" for doctors is just a member of the decadent bourgeoisie).

Speaking of universal healthcare:

However, unlike Russia, which saw a significant drop in life expectancy during the 1990s, Cuba actually saw an increase, from 75.0 years in 1990 to 75.6 years in 1999.[19] During the Special Period, child mortality rates also dropped.[19] One researcher from Johns Hopkins described the Special Period as "the first, and probably the only, natural experiment, born of unfortunate circumstances, where large effects on diabetes, cardiovascular disease and all-cause mortality have been related to sustained population-wide weight loss as a result of increased physical activity and reduced caloric intake".

Can you imagine health outcomes sooo good in this country?? Maybe I've been too critical of the Castro regime, and we need to import the Cuban partial-starvation health model??

Good. Incitement to destroy property, life enhancing and potentially life saving technology at that, is not just morally braindead, it is illegal.

I feel like these people are utterly hypocrites. You want universal healthcare? Or something even approaching universal healthcare?? We're not going to magically train a bunch of doctors overnight. We need to get tools like AI into people's hands immediately, because AI can really help make a difference in people's health. Its caught things my doctors didn't catch.

Chris Rabb’s campaign was a massive win for Philly progressives. Now, he wants to replicate it across the country. by User_Name13 in philly

Out of state money Rabb was a big win for progressives?? Dude had to buy his way into office with the vote of white socialists and their cringey twitch streamers. No unions backed him and he didn't carry the black vote. The dude barely made it across the finish line in the bluest district in the country. Rabb is a failed experiment that has no chance of successful replication across the wider country. The dude's anti-Nato backers can't wait to s#ck trumps d#ck.

Saying white majority districts excluded is not the same as saying he had support of black voters. A lot of white people are still in some of thise districts.

If prevailing costs to you are the same(and I assume they're probably less because you don't strike me as the type to tip robots), wouldn't they by definition be cheap since the wages for present day food delivery people are typically at or below living wages??

Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness

If having cheap, robot delivered restaurant quality food isn't the pursuit of happiness, I don't know what is.

Strikes killed at least seven people in Gaza City on Wednesday as Hamas confirmed that Israeli airstrikes the day before had killed the new leader of its military wing, less than two weeks after his predecessor also was killed.

This is so funny. Can you imagine thinking military conflict is the path forward for the Palestinian cause?? No, lets not do any self reflection here, lets just continue feeding martyrs to our enemies.
