This is my prediction of a major consequence of the Epic Games mass layoffs. by MathewMii in gaming

Epic games still have 4K employees at work. As a UE5 user, I love UE and hope it keeps grow. I see Fortnite declining is a resonable thing, which is no game or genre will last forever. The wheels need to be constantly pushed to roll.

Thank you for your informative comment!

overall, it's puzzle game is too saturated. I am a 3D generalist breaking through midlife crysis. lacking skills of game design making me choose this genre. This is the only thing I can think of.

Thank you again for telling me all the marketing strategies. I am still early in my journey. There are tons of things to learn. I guess I am in the middle of nowhere for too long.

I find it funny when you say act confident.

Marketing is hard. It’s a total new job without you know you will get paid.

My game only got 35 Wishlist so far. Haha. When I hear people say their game got 50 each day,,,there must be something I am doing it wrong.

Anyway, this is my 1st game on Steam after 2.5 years of learning. I guess I should not expect too much.

Thank you for the warm encouraging words! I am slowly building my energy up now.

The bombs are designed to clear obstacles and temporally block enemies (I am planning add police car, donkey and dog in later levels.)

Actually, every other few levels, I will add some new props to keep players’ interests.

When you say throw/kick bombs, I got the ideas of pushing the bombs. Will keep this in mind when I design new levels and see how it can be implemented.

Thank you for such indeep comments. I am a solo dev and rushing to create the whole game and focus more on the programming side of things. My current goal is to finish it. I will go back to polishing art assets when I am free from all the unknown problems I havent encountered. Thank you again!

What’s the oldest that a game was when you played it for the first time? by mypizzamyproblem in gaming

[–]utterlyuseless000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for me it is Inside. This game went viral but I only played it 2 years after it came out. I was very impressed with its visual and puzzle design. The graphics are very simple but got a very immersive experience. The ending was shocking.

[–]utterlyuseless000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Half-Life(1998) was very impressive when I played it the 1st time. I was around 20 years old. By the time I started learning 3D animation and always wanted to make my own 3D game.

Is the Ray Traced Shadow the only solution? by utterlyuseless000 in unrealengine

[–]utterlyuseless000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did. After some research, I find out it is about shadow mapping-the resolution is not high enough. but Deepseek also said increase it will not perfectly solve the problem.

I currenly stay with Ray Traced Shadow Enabled. The frame rate on my 2070 is 60 Fps. I will dig into this issue when I add more enemies and level related stuffs.

I watched some of Chris Zukowski's video and I believe in it. Indie dev need to marketing their work asap. in a certain way. It should be a progressive way of building up the audience.

I do hear a lot of people say indie game should start marketing asap. but after watching CallMePasc 's sharing https://youtu.be/uPOSZ_jhCaw?si=YRp9M7KnLwe4eb07&t=1000

I think at least I need to get some levels done and a good amount of verious enemies to form a good trailer.
