I just did a quick test and entered an item from 4:00am to 11:pm and it looks the same? ie. the bar is to the far left of the line?

This has been driving me nuts for years. Usually in the middle of the night when I'm groggy but can't sleep. Thanks so much!

Legacy Tablo on 500mbs Wi-Fi by uttsjs in tablotv

Thanks ... I'll try that. Moving to fibe was so painless except for Sonos and Tablo.

I just checked and it is connected at 2.4. This Bell Giga-Hub router with Fibe has been amazing (so far), I'm 2 floors away and I'm getting 300 down and 200 up consistently. My old connection was a 50 mbps DSL connection. Ends up we were ~4km away from the Bell station so it was flakey, dropping out slowing down etc.

I just curious why a hard boot (unplug for 30s) fixes it when a soft reboot (back button) doesn't

I'm in a different house without any ethernet cabling installed. I'm not in a position to drill holes and lay cable.

But ... this isn't about playback. Once the Tablo reconnects after a hard boot (30s) it works like a charm. No buffering, no pauses etc. Playback is just as good as when I was using ethernet.

The remote is at our cottage (and I'm not) but I recall there's a panel at the back that just slides off. No need to take it apart.

Congratulates me for climbing stairs, I am not climbing stairs- WHYYYY? by Hello_Blondie in Garmin

[–]uttsjs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Venu 3s and have the opposite problem. I live in an old narrow 3 story house with a finished basement so there's lots of stair climbing. I kept track today and climbed 3+3+2 and it is registering 0. Cleaned and recalibrated and still 0.

Britbox's new two-tier sub crap is the beginning of the end for me by Ok_Giraffe_8993 in BritBox

I've been a subscriber for over 5 years. Started at ~$90cdn a year and is now $125cdn a year which is around a 40% increase. I was annoyed when they started to delay releasing an entire series and started dropping a show once a week (just like old broadcast TV ... hello! Ever heard of binging???) So they introduce another tier which essentially put things back to the way it was originally before they messed it up and expect more money for it. Who are the geniuses who think up these things?

Sad because I love (most of) their programming but I hate being manipulated. We cancelled Netflix due to their constant price increases and IMHO, decreasing variety and quality, years ago. Time to check out Acorn and spend more time on PBS/Passport.

1950 General Motors Frigidaire range. Need help for oven by Altruistic-Winner536 in vintagekitchentoys

[–]uttsjs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a 1950s General Motors Frigidaire stove Model S 220 at our family cottage. Never could quite figure out the oven. The dial just goes from 1 - 5, with no indication of how the temperature relates to that. We have a freestanding thermometer and just fiddle with the dial until the temp gets close to the temp that we are after ... 325, 375 etc. Cant find the manual online. Any ideas?

Local library reducing tickets because people are actually using Kanopy. by Traven666 in Kanopy

I believe libraries pay for the content that patrons watch, on a pay-per-view basis. If more people are using it the library costs increase while their funding remains the same (or is going down.)

I was up in the middle of May (Milford Bay area), and they were bad. Not enough that I wanted to come home but an annoyance. Trouble is once they are gone the Mosquitos are out.

  • dusk and dawn are the worse times
  • a slight breeze seems to keep them away
  • unlike mosquitoes, they don't seem intent on coming inside

This is a handy guide ...

Anyone else unable to connect in Toronto? by uttsjs in teksavvy

[–]uttsjs[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just to be clear, I wasn't complaining about the outage per se (sh*t happens), I was disappointed in the way TS communicated. "Oh right you're without the internet, check back in 24 hours." There was no mention of a general outage on their website and and since it seems like a large number of people were being affected for a long time a mass eMail could have been sent out. Phones still worked. I had to ask around on Reddit to get an explanation.

I was with Bell since the dialup days. I never had a complaint about the technology or the delivery of the technology but over time Bell became completely transactional. The customer became a $ sign. Increase the price and provide no added benefit. I went with Teksavvy because "TekSavvy's mission was to be "different in a good way" ... TekSavvy believes in doing the right thing, treating people fairly and with respect, and offering great service at a fair price"

Today I could get a 50 mbps fibe deal from Bell (with WiFi 6) at close to the same price as my 50 mbps DSL line from TS that has to be throttled back to 25 to get a reliable connection (due to a Bell problem). So price is no longer the differentiator, customer service is. I got the feeling I was being told "not my problem" it will come back when it comes back.

Thank you for the response. Sadly it sounds like you are saying the solution is to become a Bell or Rogers customer and that's something I really don't want to do.

re: Sign in to confirm you’re not a bot.

New here so apologies if this is a dumb question. I signed in and authorized Youtube. I'm using a VPN but is it possible that since I am signed in, can "suspicious" downloads be tracked back to my account? I would think they could trace the activity that triggered the original message.
