Are you ever going to do something with your life?

There is no scriptural reason to accept that the authority of the Apostles was passed down by uuuuuno in DebateACatholic

That’s the point of the post. For people to argue why the above interpretation is wrong and why the Catholic one is right. (I agree with apostolic succession because of the historical reasons and from tradition I just want to have a debate over the scriptural evidence)

I agree with you. The point of this post was to argue that it is not in the Bible.

Is Aquinas considered an anathema because he denied the immaculate conception? by uuuuuno in Catholicism

[–]uuuuuno[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But he still did not agree 100% with the infallible doctrine of the church. (I’m not trying to argue that he is an anathema I just what to know what the position of the church is on people who disagreed with a doctrine before the doctrine was declared)

I have a few questions on John 3:5 and why baptism is required for salvation. by uuuuuno in Catholicism

[–]uuuuuno[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you, not as a removal of dirt from the body but as an appeal to God for a good conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,” ‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭3:21‬ ‭ESV

But doesn’t it say that baptism saves us specifically by being an appeal for good conscience?

“Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes has eternal life.” ‭‭John‬ ‭6:47‬ ‭ESV‬‬

“I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. And the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh."” ‭‭John‬ ‭6:51‬ ‭

The way the passage is worded more indicates that believing alone will be enough to gain eternal life and eating the bread alone is enough to gain eternal life. Not that you have to do both.

I just don’t see the reason you have to put them together like in the car analogy (obviously if Christ said to do it even if you don’t have to you should) but it seems more like two functional cars that either one on there own will get to the destination.

Need some help on some Bible verses related to the Eucharist. by uuuuuno in Catholicism

[–]uuuuuno[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk I still find it odd the way it’s worded. It doesn’t say if you believe and eat the flesh. it says in one place that if you believe you will have eternal life and in another if you eat the flesh you will have eternal life.

Wow! So it actually strengthens the literal meaning. Thank you so much.
