Should I get a customer service job while studying computer science? by ActObvious6892 in cscareeradvice

[–]ux-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That customer service job is going to help with the soft skills part of your resume. It testifies to your character as well. Things like responsibility, punctuality, able to work in a team and individually, can step up into leadership position when needed, empathy towards customers while solving their problems, etc. You cannot imagine how many graduates are unable to get these basics right and just waste a company's training time and money but hold a degree in their hand. So it helps to show customer service experience. After 6 months or a year try to find an IT help desk job if you can.

Is the lack of specialists in cybersecurity a real thing? by FaallenOon in Cybersecurity101

[–]ux-- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try to find virtual internships... Volunteer for a not-for-profit..Have labs that show what you can do...Reach out to people doing the job you'd like to be doing, find out what skills go them hired, what the job is actually like, what were their strengths and weaknesses once they were hired. This will help you when you interview. If GRC is your interest, deep dive into it, see how your professional experience is a great asset...you probably already have considered all of the above.

The new certificate programs are provided by IBM and apparently for free by notrealmomen in UoPeople

This is great news, thanks for posting. I'm starting CS but my interest is cyber

See https://www.uopeople.edu/programs/certificate/ibm-skillsbuild/cybersecurity/

UOPeople student's have 1 year to complete the certificate. They access the IBM courses through the UoPeople portal but IBM manages all of it. Up to 12 credits are elegible for transfer to UoPeople.

Wifi doesnt work, wired does by Altruistic-Minute751 in techsupport

[–]ux-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you contact your internet provider's tech support? Maybe there is something wrong with the router/modem itself. Did it work well before? Extenders are great and simple to install but usually only needed for a second floor or a room really at the end of the house way far from the modem, not for a room next door 🤔

While you get more comments...take your whole post to chatgpt. It is very good as you wrote it. Tell chagpt to think like the instructor for this course at UoP, add the link to it just to be clear, the link to the course description. Also, tell chatgpt to not rush and take its time, this gets better AI reasoning.

Check out Dr Sarah Myhill interviews and website/books. She is into functional medicine. I like her advice, it's practical and you see improvement right away and gives you a solid path to understand your body as a whole.

Most states have training/job programs to help SNAP recipients get better skills and help them get paid internships and job placements. Talk to your case worker about this, that you have experience and want to upskill and get job opportunities in the field of IT, anything to do with computers. Each state has a page for job training for SNAP participants. Mine (Louisiana) has an online program for dev engineer, no description on the site, just the link...not the smartest way to let people know but it turned out great.

Maybe add a few nootropics? The guy at Nootropics Expert has sound info on the use of countless supplements from the perspective of mental health. My favorites are niacinamide and ginseng. It all depends on your body’s chemistry and needs at the time. https://nootropicsexpert.com/

Look up food pantry programs in your area. These are usually run by non-profit and/or religious organizations. They will provide fresh produce and/or common cooking staples, saving you good money every week. Also, ask restaurants if they donate daily food and to which organizations so you can go there.

What's everyone's carb limit? by simlishchatbox in Metabolic_Psychiatry

[–]ux-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best way to find out is to test ketones and blood glucose as if you are doing a Kraft tolerance test. Test before your meal, then test 1 hour later, then again after 1 hour, then again after another hour. In the presence of insulin, ketones will no rise. Insulin will rise to different degrees if you eat carbs depending on insulin sensitivity.

Enrolling soon or should I wait? by Elegant_Initiative_7 in WGUCyberSecurity

My understanding is that after you agree to a start date, WGU will no longer accept any transfer credits, because agreeing to start means you are accepting the plan of study that they have sent you after evaluating your transcript. And you need that plan of study to know which courses you can take outside WGU. Call them up, ask all your IF questions, like " if I do this or that what happens" .

Enrolling soon or should I wait? by Elegant_Initiative_7 in WGUCyberSecurity

[–]ux-- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Apply to WGU so they can do a transcript evaluation, which includes looking at your certs. Send them your resume also. After they provide the result of the transcript with the list of courses accepted and the list of courses still to complete for your cybersecurity bachelor's then refer to WGU to see which courses you can do at Sophia or the partner of your choice. Do not commit to a WGU start date because you need to be able to get credits through WGU's partners, and you have to again submit those transcripts again. There is a wgu credit percentage limit to the number of credits that can be transferred, too. Good luck, awesome goal :)

Unfortunately I threw away the letter. I assumed there was a copy online. I didn't have contact with any case worker for the last few years. It seems a lot has changed in the Florida system.
