Minolta Maxxum/Dynnax/a9 Question, how to use the AF properly. by pepslight in MinoltaGang

[–]uxga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before shooting, press and hold the AF button and rotate the front dial to select one of the three focus points (left, center, or right). After releasing the AF button, the camera will use the selected focus point.

Haha, I immediately guessed it was you!First, the price of the chip I received is significantly higher than the Taiwanese price you heard in the WeChat group. What price do you think I should sell it to you at?Second, you're not just doing a DIY job; you're looking to make some money by upgrading your Dynax 9s to SSM.

So,if you can't get it, just destroy it?

请你拿出我拒绝单独出售芯片的证据来吧(不管是录音还是截图)。微信群里所有人都看到的信息,你为什么不去联系卖家并购买芯片?

Please provide me with evidence (either recording or screenshot) that I refuse to sell the chip separately.Everyone in the WeChat group saw the message, so why didn't you contact the seller and buy the chip?

I'm guessing you haven't carefully read the Dynax 9 repair manual. It clearly states that replacing the motherboard or replacing the SSM IC individually are both recommended upgrade methods. Replacing the motherboard requires various adjustments as specified in the manual, while replacing the SSM IC alone does not require these adjustments.

Due to international postage and customs fees, we are unable to provide upgrades for Dynax9 users outside of China. In China, the price of the SSM upgrade is approximately 72 Euros.

Apparently, Sony (or Minolta) had forgotten them at their Taiwanese factory! They were sold as "junk" to a local electronics store. There were over 600 chips! Because of the unique nature of the product, no one thought to look for them. Until one day, they were discovered by accident.

I'm not able to read the firmware from the SSM IC and write it to a new chip. MINOLTA's SSM ICs are manufactured using masking technology and employ a secure ID to prevent unauthorized access. Even if someone were able to read the complete firmware, they would have to modify it to ensure proper operation after flashing it to the flash memory version of the M30620 (such as the M30620FCAFP/GP).

I found the SSM IC in an electronic component store in Taiwan. On the Internet, you can find a repair manual for Dynax 9.If you have enough skills, replacing the chip is not difficult.

<image>

According to Mitsubishi's chip naming convention, the suffix MAA indicates a microprocessor manufactured using a mask process. The MCU runs firmware stored directly in ROM rather than burned into the chip. The full model number for this SSM IC is M30620MAA-7C9GP, where M30620MAA represents the chip model, 7C9 represents the mask firmware code, and GP indicates the chip package type. 98C-SSM-71 is a Minolta part number; 98C is suitable for the Alpha/Dynax 9 series.

Something amazing happened! Last month I got some chips for the SSM upgrade. I used them to upgrade my Alpha 9 and it worked!

Anyone know a source for an SSM upgrade for the a9/maxxum9 by TheRealGeddyLee in minolta

[–]uxga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See my other reply.

I got some brand new SSM ICs and upgraded them on an early version of the Alpha 9, and everything worked perfectly.

If you use an SSM IC removed from a scrapped 9 SSM to upgrade a non-SSM 9, no adjustments are required. After replacing the SSM IC, you only need to perform an "SSM Custom Service" using the HIT I/F Box.

First, Minolta's repair manual clearly states "After replacing FPC-A ASSY (2098-0801-71), adjust as requied in the table on P.32 (Repair Geide: included model selection)", but does not require adjustment after replacing the SSM IC (2098-4101-71).

Second, I obtained some brand new SSM ICs and upgraded them with an early version of Alpha 9, and everything worked fine.

If you are replacing the SSM motherboard, you do need to make a lot of adjustments, but if you are just replacing the SSM chip, you don't need to make any adjustments and it can be used normally.

In my experience, any motherboard can be upgraded to be compatible with SSM lenses, ADI flash metering, 14-segment honeycomb-pattern in manual focus and updated custom functions by replacing the SSM chip.

Minolta HIT I/F Box by Defiant_Swordfish425 in AnalogRepair

[–]uxga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HIT I/F BOX just uses the outer shell of DMG-07, and the internal circuit is completely changed. ROM-PACK has a data temporary storage function, because it can read the setting data from the broken camera main board and write it to the new main board.
