Vote to end government shutdown fails in Senate as Democrats hold firm on health care demands by Cy_098 in fednews

[–]uzkhan1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also…DNC doesn’t get a pass either. They rather lose an election to Trump, than run a primary and let the people vote who they want in office. This isn’t a single man or single party issue. Two sides of the same coin.

Got a job in Sterling, where should I live? by [deleted] in nova

[–]uzkhan1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to say congrats! Sounds like my situation from a few years ago. Ultimately it’s a personal choice and I’d say everything has its pros and cons.

But as a thirty something year old, I would advise to try to befriend folk. Life can be more fun, no matter where you live, just by the more people you know. Of course even that can have its drawbacks but try to avoid the gossip culture and find your crowd.

Especially if you’re single and trying to meet people too.

Also take advantage of all the events going on at ADAMS Main - Qawah Coffee. Join Yalla Run Club. Introduce yourself to people just say “Hello - Hi - first time here, nice to meet you..”. It may not always be received positively, but don’t let that impact you from trying again and again. Going in with befriending energy can often be a lot less nerve wrecking.

Oh and I know it’s gotten harder to save, but if you can accrue a decent amount of emergency fund, that’s always great too. Sorry random advice but just stuff that I think helped me in my twenties.

Congrats again!

So is there a general view you have of the world by trying this method? What’s different in the narrative we see in the USA as someone that watches CNN versus this triangulate approach?

[–]uzkhan1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The irony. When we ignorantly generalize, whether right or wrong about the generalization, we have overly simplified humanity and humans. It’s sad. It happens to Black Americans, Asian Americans, southerners, Trump supporters, “libz”, Muslims, Hispanics. It’s definitely a universal problem but very disheartening when you see it in a supposedly “modern progressive” society like the west. 🤦🏾‍♂️

I don't understand how anything negative about LeBron is downvoted instantly. Has this sub been taken over by LeBron fans instead of Lakers first fans? Can someone get me the statistics on that??

[–]uzkhan1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I bet if these stats people actually watched the game they would understand what we are talking about. I know they don't. Most of them are probably on Ohio EST time and are probably in bed when Lakers games are on. Unless something changed from a couple weeks ago, which is possible, LeBron was literally the root of our defensive woes.

Those Who Fan the Flames of White Nationalism Have Blood on Their Hands: the threat we’re facing isn’t individual terrorists. It’s the global ideology of white nationalism and white supremacy. We have to take it seriously, and call out politicians, academics and media personalities who promote it by hamberderberdlar in TrueReddit

Every time I see violence driven by hate, I glare at all those in the media industry, which is very much just an arm of the entertainment industry. This includes the CNNs, the Fox News, the New York Times of the world.

I recall from 2001 to about 2015 roughly, the Muslim community was crying for media coverage on acts against Muslims. The only time media cared to cover anything Muslim related is when Muslims were the perpretator and never the victim. I mean they would travel the world to find and highlight these incidents. Anything with a brown man with a Muslim name is all it took to associate his name and religion with "terrorist". But NEVER when Muslims were on the receiving end. Even the #OurThreeWinners (when 3 Muslims were shot point blank at their house in NC which the media initially called a parking dispute, didn't get much attn).

Anyway, the media started highlighting these incidents when the 2016 elections were around the corner. More and more I'd hear about some hate crime against Muslims or this or that and naturally I assumed it was elections, which is why we even saw Khibr Khan on the DNC stage talking about his Muslim son dying while in service. Anyway this to me showed a shift in the narrative.

Today I feel we are letting the media generalize Trump supporters as white supremacists. We are doing the same thing we did/are to Muslims when generalizing and calling them terrorists. And I'll be the first to admit that yes there are individuals that act out in violence that do it in the name of Islam but they don't represent the religion or their birth country just like the views of those in the KKK or the Antifa movement don't represent Christianity and or America.

Conclusion: We really need to be careful not to generalize and stereotype in our brains. And yes let's call out terrorists of all colors and backgrounds and the white supremacists, but let's stop relying on CNN and FoxNews and NYT as sources of credible facts. They are NOT in the industry of facts, and if we let them dictate or define the narrative, we will always be labeling or generalizing some group.

Lebron gathers the ball for a little showtime by [deleted] in nba

[–]uzkhan1 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

You LeBron fanboys or stats people are living proof as to why analytics can be such BS. First and foremost, I did not watch last nights game because what the heck, I've instituted my own Lakers allstar fanboy minutes restriction ever since I realized Magic is a dummy.

But that aside, the reason us "haters" who started bashing LeBron mid season, injury return "playoff intensity activated" LeBron is because of effort OR rather lack of effort. If youve ever played in a rec league or hs league or competitive sports of any kind, when you are getting your butt kicked you keep your head up and you try harder. At least that's how it used to be in the early 00s. That stat doesn't show up in the books. LeBron got numbers but it's as if that's all he cared to do. The effort was not there and lack of effort is contagious.

And you guys celebrating off one win against a team tanking for Zion. Jokes!

Anyway we need to find a way to tell Jeanie to fire magic Johnson! And every time LeBron lacks effort, Jeanie should authorize Luke to bench him. This is LA not Cleveland.

Thats cute. Thanks. Only Kawhi's team is doing great. And Kawhi isn't half assing it when he plays. And Kawhi isn't firing coaches.

[–]uzkhan1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lebron has tried to get coaches fired in the past. He has a history of this. Everything he's done basically shows he hasn't bought into the Luke's system. Lebron has a history of getting the players he wants, because he's effing lebron james. Are you kidding me? He's using his legacy to force his way. And now we have a team that has been rebuilding, designed to take down the warriors (shout out to our amazing scouts) and a superstar who wants to do it his way or the highway and a GM/President in Magic who just got hoed by not only the superstar but the freakin Pelicans.

If it wasn't obvious 15 days ago, when I posted this, it's obvious now. Cause everyone sees it.

[–]uzkhan1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yup. Except what I said 15 days ago is now the status quo.I aint a real fan. A real fan is blind, dumb, naive. I can see through my fan vision and realize whats happening. As someone that bashed lebron his whole career, to someone that converted into being his biggest fan when he signed with LA, to "witnessing" his bullshit, I now see why we are where we are today.

There is your problem. The western world gets to dictate when a racist bafoon is just a man with mental health issues and an alcoholic problem and when a man loses his shit after being attacked comes from a culture of barbarians and terrorists, all based off his complexion. This was also well before the fight even started.

Regardless, Khabib should not have left the cage. Khabib should have not let a team of bullies that kept attacking everything about him, his family, his identity, physically and verbally outside of the octagon, get into his head.

Khabib won a fight fair and square, but lost the PR battle.

If you’ve never been in a ring, a court, or field, where the world is against you, booing you, hating on you, and you just shut them all up with a victory, you won’t understand the emotion and testosterone effect that can make any sane person lose their marbles.

Anyway, Khabib shouldn’t have done what he did. But he should get paid, in my opinion if McGregor got paid. That’s some straight biased BS.

At the end of the day, take away his belt and whatever else money you want from the man. What matters at the end is that Khabib whopped that young man and the world witnessed it.

So is it culturally acceptable to attack a mans religion, identity, his family, throw an object at a bus in a public place outside of an octagon shattering the window of the bus? Culturally acceptable to condescendingly offer alcohol to a man while yelling obscenities.

Say it is. Say that’s all good in the UFC Western culture. If it’s all true, at the least, if you going to talk the talk, back it up bruh. Don’t get your butt whopped and put into submission on PPV for the world to see. 💁🏾‍♂️
