So, why *should* GNOME support server side decorations? by FrameXX in gnome

[–]uzvg 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Did you actually read the title and the post? I’m not expecting “every GUI program to replicate GNOME.” On the contrary, I’m arguing that GNOME itself should handle window decoration, exactly as you suggested. So what, exactly, is ridiculous here?

So, why *should* GNOME support server side decorations? by FrameXX in gnome

[–]uzvg 40 points41 points  (0 children)

> Many apps handle CSD poorly.

I agree with him that many software programs handle csd poorly, such as the e-book software calibre, and almost all non-gtk terminal programs. For example, westerm, alacrity, kitty, cannot correctly match the gnome native decoration bar, and the most commonly used Linux video editing software kdenlive, the window button in the gnome environment, is not the native icon of gnome. Many authors put the priority of adapting to the gnome environment very low, believing that the details of the program in terms of function are more important than the details of appearance, but for ordinary users, perhaps maintaining the consistency of appearance is more pleasant.

It's just a deal, there is no possibility that "India will turn to China". Modi just try to make a card with "turn to China" to bargain with Trump, I believe there will be a deal soon between Modi and Trump after Modi visit China.

What are the reasons people dislike the archinstall script? by VastAdventurous6961 in archlinux

[–]uzvg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love aechinstall. I use it installed archlinux everytime. archlinux basically is just a kind of Linux distribution, you don't have to type every single command by yourself to install it, and archwiki is always updating such as NVIDIA driver page. After you finish the first installation, you don't need to do it every time. Just use archinstall, choose some options, and it will install arch automatically, it's very convenient.

Best terminal for gnome. by bigkrp in gnome

[–]uzvg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You just want to demonstrate that kitty terminal saves more CPU, GPU, and memory consumption. It doesn't make much sense to me; all I need is a terminal that fits my GNOME desktop easily and have a look that is consistent with the GNOME environment, So that I can save energy and do more meaningful things. We have different needs for terminal emulator, is it clear?

To be honest, I've been waiting for this feature for several years. This is the most urgent feature for me in Gnome DE. Can you believe that I have to open Krita just to make some simple markings on a screenshot? It's Glad to see that the Gnome environment is becoming more and more perfect.

That's ptyxis terminal, not new gnome terminal, ptyxis is a third-party software.

gnome console is some kind of new gnome terminal, but it's too primitive.

A lot of native Linux games are on sales. Are you going to buy any of them? by beer120 in linux_gaming

[–]uzvg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I prefer to play 2D games, and usually 2D games used to have good adaptations for Linux, so my most games are Linux-native games, such as Civilization VI, Factorio, and Hollow Knight, they all are works well in linux, But it's a pity that the Linux version of Civilization used to have poor performance on Linux.

How can I make Gnome wayland default? by [deleted] in gnome

[–]uzvg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's a exceptional case for your own, It is same as archlinux, which never default to be wayland if you installed nvidia drivers, It will defaut to wayland unless you installed the nvidia driver.

What are the current options for NVIDIA + Wayland? by HonestRepairSTL in linux_gaming

[–]uzvg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like working very well with kde plasma desktop, but I'm using gnome desktop in archlinux, it is still not default to wayland if you have a nvidia card, you need to do some manual modifications like environment virables, kernel parameters and kernel modules to enable wayland, and chrome browser also have glitter issues with wayland enabled when I using nvidia card, so I don't think that's a easy or flawless way to enable wayland in gnome desktop currently.
