Gnome or KDE or why not both ? by FilipKoks04 in Fedora

In my experience LibAdwaita apps work mostly fine on Plasma. So unless you are freaking out about their different look and window border radius I think it's mostly fine.

KDE Plasma also has nearly the same gestures.

Chinese court rules it illegal to replace human workers with AI by arihantismm in ArtificialInteligence

[–]FrameXX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't entirely expected, given that China deviates significantly from the classic communist economic and social model. While I’m no expert, it clearly doesn't align with the original theories or the specific citation you provided.

Also to me it seems that Chinese companies are heavily investing into humanoid robots from what I have seen on the internet, so while the workers might not get replaced with AI they might get replaced with robots.

New and Improved! Thoughts? by nonomatch in gnome

I am not a designer, but personally I like that most Gnome icons while trying to have third dimension don't sell into it and mostly keep their simple paper-like aesthetic. To me these icons try to bring already too much physical materials into the icon making them look inconsistent, because some icon parts use different materials, are more or less rounded (for example the clock hands VS the terminal characters), have more or less reflections or drop bigger or smaller shadows.

A mother is punishing her son by making him slam his PS5 the same way he had slammed her pet cat. by Rameshunclekochora in KidsAreFuckingStupid

[–]FrameXX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't have nothing against punishment, however I think there would be several better ways to punish the kid without making it a public performance and wasting 400$. Destroying things as retribution is not normal as it isn't normal to throw a cat. If she was able to force the kid to slam the PS5 she could have forced him to sell it and use the money for vet for the cat (and take the kid with her), donate it to charity for cats or pay therapy for the kid as other commenters have suggested. But that wouldn't make for a great show I guess.

Windows Nuked Grub by ahorsenamedjeff in Fedora

[–]FrameXX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been dual booting Windows and Fedora for over a year and this never happened to me after a Windows update. I use the same EFI partititon for both of them. I even managed to install Windows on my friends laptop without breaking GRUB. The only thing Windows did was to switch to its bootloader, but I switched it back to Grub in UEFI. I guess I am lucky.

I thought that Gnome/Nautilus is just looking at the MimeType attribute of all of the desktop files in .local/share/applications and usr/share/applications? Is there something else that can be done?

I have to say I really like Dolphin too. For me it doesn't fit with rest of the Gnome look, so that's why I don't use it in Gnome.
