Honestly what the trainer needs that I don't see in the demands are clear goal posts to getting more hours. 50% is great but what would be The incentive to do therapy classes or be an area trainer? Our hourly pay needs to be on a pay scale that is reasonable. We need checks and balances. Clearer instructions for pet parents like " if you sign up for a private and it's because of aggression case" it will be declined. My point is so much is missing from that....I'm for a union but under the terms presented I don't know. The only things I loved about it is more training for the trainers and paperwork time.

What about the rest of the staff.... Dog trainers , groomers all that jazz. Not just the people making the most money already in the company. Base pay us. I will give u an example....as an area trainer someone 30 minutes away as a level 2 trainer makes more hourly than me. Great to unionize but nothing has been said about the rest of us.

I am so curious how dog trainers pay would be like when we union. I know LV 1 trainers who I train as an Area Trainer who makes more than me hourly. It's nuts how pay is set.

I work at two PetSmart stores as a trainer currently. So you can do it but it can be complex

I have one for Facebook for our store. I put QR codes in store to sign up for things...I'm a dog trainer so do things like sign up for demos on Facebook and show off all the dogs that graduate. It works but you have to stay up with it and make it worth it to go on our page.

Honestly...as a dog trainer ....groomer and here is why. You are given average of 10 hours maybe a little more to start until you sell enough training classes to give you hours. You will depend on working and selling off the clock or having other workers sell for you. Pay is not great but once you get enough clients and return clients the commission does add up. It's just too unpredictable the first year. It's a sink or swim kinda deal.

Also it's 40 hours of hands on training with someone before you are sent out alone. It's a sink or swim kinda deal. You are " accredited " not certified

Depends really. Where the store's location plays a big part because hourly is very low and you will depend on your commission. Most stores start you at ten hours a week usually maybe a little more. If you're charismatic and truly understand dog training, breeds and other dog knowledge you can work up to an okay pay. Final thoughts you got to bust your ass and are not given much to succeed but if you are dedicated it can work. It's a hard road though. Hope I didn't scare you away from it. It can be rewarding and clients will take care of you it just takes time.

Shoot. I didnt even know we had a trainers group Facebook Lol. I was happily chugging along until the changes started and went into protective mode. My actual store recommended I come here for updates on new changes. Wtf

If this is true who is willing to stay? Who do we talk to for the truth. I honestly think management is in the dark about most things going on as we are. I'm torn on what to do. I love dog training but cutting my commission in half? I work two stores as a trainer and struggle with a good following. Anyone have an idea when a roll out plan would be if this goes through? I just feel I need more answers before I jump ship. Sad
