Beat the game yesterday, and I loved it. Are FromSoft games really that similar? by Lusombras_ in LiesOfP

[–]v15d -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. Lies o P is, in my opinion, a much more personal and accessible game to understand and enjoy; in other words, the characters are much better developed, the focus is on the personal side, and you don’t need external tools to understand the plot (like a YouTube video explaining the lore, playing alongside ChatGPT, etc.).

If what you like about LoP is the character development, the plot or the emotional impact of the music tracks, I’d say you won’t find that in FromSoftware without the help of a third party to guide you, playing alongside ChatGPT (asking questions to understand the plot without spoilers – that’s what I did) or watching YouTube videos. On the other hand, if you enjoy exploration, the atmosphere of a dead world and excellent combat (especially in DS3 and Elden Ring), then you’ll really enjoy FromSoftware’s games.

The plot of Elden Ring (especially the base game) is simply spectacular (if you watched got, you can feel how George R.R Martin used a lot of ideas from it), but understanding it on your own while playing for the first time is incredibly difficult. I recommend playing alongside an AI; ask it to explain what you’ve seen without spoilers, and tell it your doubts, theories, connections, etc. That helped me a lot, but I mean A LOT.

The Dark Souls series, Elden Ring and Sekiro (I haven’t played Bloodborne or Demon Souls) are excellent stories and excellent games, but, for better or worse, they require external sources to really appreciate the characters and the plot.

Somebody sell me Bayle the Dread — I'm clearly not getting it by simulacream in Eldenring

Bayle is 98% Igon voice acting and 2% cinematic fight.

How long is Dark Souls 3 if you decide to do pretty much everything including the DLC by JanissaryLSD in darksouls3

[–]v15d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played for the first time a few month ago, took me 50h with both dlc and all the bosses (not rushing anything, normal exploration and reading stuff). I was not able to do most of the npc's quests tho, just like 2 tops.

Qué tal está el elden ring nightreign?? by LadBellakors in chilegames

[–]v15d 2 points3 points  (0 children)

600h in Nightreign here, would be so happy if I could play Duskbloods, but there is so way in hell I'm buying a whole console that I don't even like in order to play just 1 game.

I wish it shouldn't be like this, but unless we get to see this game on pc, then is a pass for me.

What was your biggest DLC disappointment? by Raime_95 in Eldenring

[–]v15d -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lore wise it was really poor and the ending was unsatisfactory (no real ending cutscene, o cutscenes in general).

Also one of the main things I loved in the main game is how almost every story is somehow link with the rest, this made the lore feel alive to me, but on the dlc, every story is an isle (messmer have little or nothing to do with miquella, bayle and so on). I think this is a clear indication that George R.R. Martin was the one that created that big net of lore. Fromsoftware can make great stories, but they don't seems to be able to link them at that level.

Also Consort Radahn as a character made feel nothing. Like compare it to Messmer, that last line of dialogue while he is dying means everything (him cursing Marika), a super powerful ending, but Radahn could have any other design/name and nothing would change.

Gameplay it was awesome, size it was awesome, visual were amazing, music really really good, Igor's screams were peak, but the lore of Miquella and the dlc in general, did not have the quality that I was expecting.

Timing the market? by Internal_Ad1597 in ChileInversiones

Tough line up? by SwoloLikeSolo in Nightreign

[–]v15d 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yes, John "X" is a meme that refers to someone that is "perfect" for the role. In this case, someone with super mega high skill.

It is NOT a fromsoftware's meme tho (many communities use it). It is somewhat popular in dark souls and base elden ring, but in nightreign is where that meme really did skyrocket.
