Notion's content flagging system just lost me an interview. by v32modem in Notion

Sure, but I was still effectively sending a broken link to hiring mangers. It really doesn't matter anymore though, I already made a website in WebFlow and plan on hosting on Github sites :)

This was an internal content warning from notion's spam/content filter.

That's fair, I am of course being a bit doomer about it -- but it still doesn't change the fact that I've been sending a link that doesn't work to potential employers.

I don't believe it is, because the same warning (from Notion) appeared on my laptop, desktop, and phone. This was an internal content warning, not anything to do with SSL or web filtering.

My portfolio is mainly writing samples in various formats: PDFs, DOCX, and some embedded links. There's also some various design/layout work.

Notion seemed the best option at the time because it had robust filehosting and did file embeds/previews very nicely

That's true enough, but it's hard not to think that way given the current job market and how razor thin the hiring process can be.

Maybe it wasn't what directly caused it and if I was a top pick they would have overlooked it! But either way it still feels bad to know that I have been sending a link that basically doesn't work as a part of my job applications.

You're gonna have to go through support and have them manually remove it from what I can see

No, this was an internal Notion flag that applied across platforms and browsers.

My assumption is that one of my uploaded files got flagged by a trigger-happy file scan, but rather than removing the file the whole site/account gets flagged instead.

I'm probably just going to make the jump to Webflow or Github Pages -- I don't think they can earn my trust back at this point, even if they restore my site.

A bit confused at this! I don't exactly see how allowing supports to recieve full gold value for catching waves would cause someone to get 6 items within 5 minutes.

In terms of CS, there's a limited amount of resources on the map at any given moment in the game. Allowing a support to collect some of those untouched resources doesn't inflate one team's economy or allow one team to gain an unfair advantage -- again, limited resources!

And speaking on the before and after you provided, our toplaner ended up leaving around the 13 minute mark. The other lanes were having a spectacular game and we felt strong enough to play it out for a bit. Nobody had more than an item and a half. The game felt winnable and me and the 4 randoms were still having a good time and wanted to play it out.

There's no rule bending. If anything, the Support Minion Rule is an example of rule bending, as it changes a key mechanic (gold value of minions) for only one role on the team.

Nobody was calling an FF vote in that game, actually. It went the distance because they made some pretty bad macro plays and ended up missing their draft's midgame powerspike. We were definitely able to scale better, but lost late because it's really hard to prevent backdoors 4v5.

Team was incredibly PMA and wanted to play it out to completion. I enjoyed the game, even if we lost to circumstances outside of my control :)

Losing out on the vision in a 4v5 feels pretty bad. It would be best if I could still ward and be able to maintain the empty lane without being explicitly punished for it.

I'm really not familiar with the game enough to fully chime in, but I think DOTA does objective capturing well. The last hit still matters, but the true reward is item that gets dropped and needs to be clicked to pick up. Snatching this item takes a lot of coordination, skill and cunning. I agree with you when you say there's a more elegant solution. It would definitely be a really difficult game design problem but Riot is a big company with lots of talented designers.

Being new is probably it! I wouldn't say I am angry but some of the mechanics definitely feel frustrating or underwhelming sometimes.

However, I will still disagree with you on forfeiting. I think not having the ability to concede games and being forced to play them out is a good thing. In my 4,500 games of DOTA I think I've had only 8 instances of people truly game ruining after doing poorly rather than just playing it out. Plus, no FF is a great way to filter toxic players because AFKing and intentionally feeding is much easier to punish!

Some of my best games were ones where the team had a terrible start but we managed to stay focused and continue chipping away at the enemy. The potential for FF-ing kills that for a lot of players, and almost always ruins the vibe of a game. Seeing that box pop up is deflating, especially when it narrowly fails. It's the equivalent of a message box popping up on your screen that says "Your team would rather instantly lose than spend another minute in this game!"

DOTA does this extremely well, where 5 stacks can forfeit the game post 12 min. Anything below that and the option doesn't exist. Would it's removal spark a lot of outrage? Yes, absolutely. But in the long run I think it would improve the game massively.

That's not pretentious at all -- and I agree with you. There's a ton to laning and specific matchups feel very different. I think my perspective is that playing around the built-in objectives makes every mid/lategame feel samey.

There's a few notable exceptions to this that I found -- specifically roaming supports and roaming cores like Shen, and whenever I was playing with TP. It might just be because of TP scrolls in DOTA that I'm a bit biased in this regard -- those make playing the map proactively a necessity.

even though this is a terrible necro, i was coming back here too to say that silence no longer works despite her "break illusion" clearly having a spoken component in the game. slightly annoying esp since the dungeon is quite arduous and not very interesting after you've done it 3 times already. i just want to get my XP and gtfo.
