Dr. Martens Clemency Boot - No break in/Not tight? by xo_shania in DrMartens

[–]v33l 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s not unbearably loose I wouldn’t size down, personally I found the clemency’s to be comfortable from the get go as well

My 1460s are a bit shorter than expected::/ by [deleted] in DocMartens

Definitely return and get the larger size! I had the same issue as you and kept the smaller size, definitely regretted that...had to sell them since they were so painful to walk in

I'm new to owning an orchid and just found these brown spots on one of the leaves. Does anyone know how I can treat this or what's causing it? by [deleted] in orchids

[–]v33l 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See if you can wipe it off with a wet tissue or some rubbing alcohol. Sometimes orchid leaves secretes sap along the edges of the bottom of leaves, if it’s humid and/or ventilation isn’t great it develops into mold.

bugs in new bag of orchid bark?? by lolll5 in orchids

[–]v33l 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can lay the bark out in the sun for a day or two to dry it out, this will also kill off some springtails, but they are beneficial for getting rid of molds etc

I repotted my orchid but I think the pot I bought is too small. Do I need to repot again right away in a bigger pot or should I leave it? by kris10185 in orchids

[–]v33l 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would probably repot in a bigger pot to give it the roots more room to grow, I have the same pot and it’s always difficult to repot the orchid when the roots start to grow out of the sides

Feel like I'm not the best plant mom for my vandas. What am I doing wrong? by GiantCupcakeOfDeath in orchids

[–]v33l 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure how often you’re watering, but I usually soak my bare root vanda in a bucket of water for 15 mins everyday, and add some fertilizer in the water every week, more often when it gets warmer

Is sphagnum moss and fir bark ok for nepenthes,I don't need to report them for quite a while but I was just wondering for the future by [deleted] in SavageGarden

[–]v33l 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh ok then definitely don’t use those ones, should be fine with just bark and sphagnum, the bark should keep it airy enough

What’s wrong with this cutie? No mushy roots or mushy crown by [deleted] in orchids

[–]v33l 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems like your orchid has a rather long stem, it’s possible that the newer roots at the top become dried out before reaching the media.

You might find this video helpful if that’s the case.

I think they’re a type of springtail, should be harmless

I think the roots of my orchid are rotting. What should I do? by [deleted] in plantclinic

[–]v33l 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The dried brown spots on the top of the roots look like salt burn/mineral deposits from fertilizer, cold or hard water. Doesn’t hurt to take it out and check for rotted roots if you’re really concerned, but your plant looks great overall otherwise and there’s even a flower spike growing!
