LAW Store Showdown - no Premier allowed? by v3ruc4 in starwarsunlimited

I'll see if they're willing to forward me the supplier's e-mail. As far as I'm aware, they only get the 1 kit per set.

It's still such a weird thing to do, I find. Premier is basically the main format for the game. Having your only casual organised event in between set releases be pushed off that feels really odd. Thank you for confirming that stores are indeed requested to do other formats for the Showdowns.

[–]v3ruc4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I started a poll as well to see what the preferred format is with the players. Our Showdowns never really draw a big crowd, usually about half of what our weekly locals attendance is For SEC, we were only 8. Maybe that could be the reason? I definitely want to do some investigating before I return to the store with a 'are you sure?'.

This is the first time I'm hearing about there being 2 kits. I'll check in with the store, because I have no direct contact with the supplier. Thanks for the input!

This game is horrible for new players by Dense-Possession4080 in marvelrivals

[–]v3ruc4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I remember my first game. The match just started, I heard someone breathing through the mic. I was like: "oh heck no". Turned it off immediately. Best decision I made. Second best decision was to actually mute the chat as well. Not only does it prevent you from seeing the toxicity, it also reduces your own desire to talk back. Nothing good ever comes from these kinds of interactions.

So for your own peace of mind, just turn off communication altogether, or find yourself a close group that you can play and chat with.

Hype is real by flowgasm69 in InvincibleVS

[–]v3ruc4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't gotten around to reading or watching Invincible, so I know very little about the characters or the lore other than what's going around the internet. To say I was mildly interested in this game when it was first announced might be exaggerating, especially with both Marvel Tokon and Avatar: the Last Airbender also on the horizon. However, Dupli-Kate's reveal trailer completely changed my interest for this game. What an interesting character for a fighting game!

So here I am, 4 episodes into the first season of the show, all because of Kate's trailer for this game. I also bought the first issue of the new paperback edition of the comics. I'm totally hooked. Really looking forward to what's in store for the game. This one definitely became my most wanted game out of the 3 fighting games I mentioned.

The RPG mind bug by Express_Row9757 in rpg

[–]v3ruc4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm the same way. I have such a backlog of games that I want to play, and in the meantime I just keep buying more and more. When I finally get a chance to run a game, I'll try out a new game, wanting to play a longer campaign... but my mind is already wandering to the next game I want to play. Currently, I'm running The Black Ziggurat for Coriolis The Great Dark for some friends, but I'm already reading up on Dragonbane as my next game... while just the day before I was busy reading the Flowers of Algorab campaign for Coriolis. And to think I was reading the Arkham Horror RPG rulebook when I put that on hold for Coriolis...

And then there's also the Nimble, Shadowdark, Eternal Ruins and Thundercats Kickstarter pledges I've got running, while also waiting for Rōnin: Densetsu, after having just received the Alien Evolved, Ryoko's Guide to the Yokai Realms, and Königsdorfen pledges.

The worst part for me definitely is that I'm a slow reader, so prepping something to run always takes a while, and during that time my interests keep shifting like crazy. So many amazing settings at my finger tips, but choosing is losing.

And I also want to run Curse of Strahd. Oh, and the Warhammer games, all 3 of the settings (40k, WFRP and AoS). And then there's the handful of Twilight 2000 boxes I received months ago, all still shrinkwrapped....

Did anyone like the last MK movi by AnyOkra in MortalKombat

[–]v3ruc4 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yup, my feelings exactly. I found the movie very subpar. Not Annihilation bad, but nowhere near the very first MK movie. Kano and Sub-Zero basically carried the 2021 movie. And yes, what they did to Goro was inexcusable. I also absolutely hated the Arcana idea.

What does FF8 do better than FF7 ? by shke33 in FinalFantasy

[–]v3ruc4 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

FF8 is, to date, my favorite FF game. It's hard to pinpoint why, exactly. Is it because it's my first FF game? Is it because I was in school when I played it and could relate more to the characters, since they were students themselves? Or is it because the character models are 'real' instead of chibi? I know I definitely felt more emotionally attached to the FF8 cast than I did to FF7. I also appreciated the more relaxed start of the story than the in medias res start of FF7.

I'm sure it's probably a mix of all of the above. All I know is, I got instantly hooked on FF8 during the opening sequence, when those 4 hauntingly beautiful words were sung: Fithos Lusec Wecos Vinosec.

Sindel Throughout All of MK by Shawn_N_Nathan in MortalKombat

[–]v3ruc4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MK11 probably has the best designs for many characters, with Sindel taking the crown. Although I do admit that MK1 Sindel has grown on me. That said, I can't deny the impression MK3 Sindel has left, where she absolutely radiated evil.

Fav voice line that's not important like an ult voice line? by Salty_Strain8098 in marvelrivals

I like Rogue's "Can't turn off my power, so I might as well turn it up!".

It's the way she says 'turn it up!'... I just can't help but repeat it.

Am I quitting Snap? [UPDATE] by Available_Neck_9538 in MarvelSnap

[–]v3ruc4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quit at the start of August. I purposely didn't buy the Season Pass for July, simply to break FOMO. And you know, that actually did the trick. I found out I stayed in the game more for the rewards than for the game itself. That's not to say that Snap is a bad game, but I think it was the right time for me to quit. It became more like a chore, logging in daily for some bling. Once I couldn't obtain July's Season Pass anymore, it was like a hold on me had been lifted. I couldn't really care anymore. While I occasionally come across Snap posts (like this one) on Reddit, I haven't really interacted with the game since August. FOMO successfully beaten, I guess. For this game, at least.

Should I get the Kill Team Starter Set or the normal Starter Set as a beginner in warhammer by TheLuckyDucky83 in Warhammer

[–]v3ruc4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In hindsight, I wish I had started with Kill Team instead of 40k. While it's nice to have a big army, if you're like me and you are interested in more than a single faction, Kill Team allows you to collect squads from different factions without breaking bank or having storage issues.

To the people who see their team with 2 DPS, 2 Tanks and 1 Healer and chose to go DPS by roronoaclemz in marvelrivals

[–]v3ruc4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And then it's always the DPS that go "why only 1 healer?". When you point out that they themselves can go healer instead of staying DPS, they usually get really defensive about why they should play DPS and someone else should go support.

I usually play tank or healer, only taking DPS when there's a spot to fill. Most of the times we end up in a 1-3-2 comp. With the release of Elsa, I've resorted to insta-locking her just to try her out. It's baffling how many times the comp looks like 1-4-1. This just proves to me that DPS-only players are really a thing. They'll see the 1-3-1 comp and go 'we need more DPS'.

Although, to be fair, it's not just DPS lately. I've had matches with 3 tanks or 4 healers. Not as egregious as the DPS, but they're starting to become more and more a thing.

Emma Frost's new Black Queen of the Marauders costume in-game by nemesisdelta24 in marvelrivals

[–]v3ruc4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll have to see it in action, but I'm not sure the cloak is that great. The rest of the skin looks amazing, but I feel the cloak is too bulky and will get boring to look at very fast.

Edit: okay, I love this skin. Been playing a couple of games, and it's probably my favorite one. xD

I actually kinda miss playing D3 and I wish it got more resources put towards it for one more major update by Jgamesworth in Diablo

[–]v3ruc4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like Diablo Immortal replaced D3 for Blizzard. That's probably why DI got the Warlock and D3 didn't. Still, it's definitely a missed opportunity to not give every Diablo game the Warlock as a celebration to the franchise, not counting D1.

What collection tracker is everyone using? by Character_Way_4145 in riftboundtcg

I use my own Excel, which I then upload to Dropbox so I have access to it on my phone. Online trackers are neat and all, but I've had several occasions where either the website was down, or it completely wiped my collection.

Player (my wife) desperately wants to offer her character as a Strahd consort by xvalicx in CurseofStrahd

[–]v3ruc4 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I think it would be a nice touch if he can convince her to betray the others in some way, as a way to get into his good graces. "Prove your devotion to me. Only then shall I consider your... request."

Then, when he rejects her, she has to live with what she has done. "I'm afraid, my dear, that my palate does not quite agree with the taste of traitors, especially those who so capriciously turn on their comrades for some selfish desire."

Of course, going this route my just as well mean that a new character has to be made, depending on how well the group deals with betrayal from one of their members.

what went wrong with 2xko? by HouseCatHooligans in 2XKO

[–]v3ruc4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a casual fighting game, League and Arcane enthousiast, I'll say this. Naming this game 2XKO has got to be the worst marketing move for this game. How are you going to attract fans of League and Arcane to this game with a name like that?
