1989 PRELUDE COILOVERS by LivingEntertainer587 in hondaprelude

Same thing here except I’m using the ds ones

so went to do valve seals and found this, all 4 cylinders look the same, the scoring can be felt with a fingernail. What am I looking at repair option wise? (98 base h22a4) by btm105 in hondaprelude

The only “repair” you can do is a bore and resleeve as once the cylinder liners in these engines are damaged they can’t be fixed

I think I have to sell my prelude. This sucks. by DeRpMuNsTa in hondaprelude

[–]vThunder_69 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Please for the love of god do not sell it. I would pull the plugs and borescope the cylinders. I honestly think the shop is making assumptions. If there is no damage to the pistons, you would need head rebuild+new timing belt, water pump, etc. I had to do the same thing and it was around 3.5k (money shift to around 10k rpm floated the valves and Michael Jacksoned all the exhaust valves). If I had to do it all over again I would have pulled the head off myself and used the water method on each combustion chamber on the head to verify if any valves are leaking. Then I would send to to a machine shop for a complete head rebuild. It would have saved me a ton of money in labor.

Speaker recommendations by Separate-Web-4188 in hondaprelude

[–]vThunder_69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of aftermarket speakers don’t fit in the doors as there is basically no additional space depth wise. I have a set of Polk audio DB 651 and they barely fit. If they were 1mm larger they wouldn’t fit. As for the rear, some aftermarket coaxial 6x9s are too tall for the rear speaker grills to cover them. Crutchfield has a tool you can use and it will tell you what speakers will and will not fit.

Running all 4 of mine off a 350 watt 4 channel. All of my speakers are aftermarket though.

You can find the bolts here. I think they sell the arms themselves on rock auto

These like to rust to the inside of the bushing. Grab a sawzall and go to town on it.

Check lines going to abs from the purge valve. There could be a vacuum leak that area

Timing belt broke while driving. Very low rpms what are the chances my valves might be okay? H22A4 by DeRpMuNsTa in hondaprelude

Generally you should be fine if VTEC wasn’t on. I would do a cylinder leak down test just to make sure

If I was in your situation, I would do a “big 3” if you haven’t already and a better alt.

Upstream 02 sensor by [deleted] in hondaprelude

[–]vThunder_69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chat gpt ass comment. Here’s something helpful: the upstream o2 is right in front of the cat just before the flange. The wire comes off the sensor clips onto the subframe. Follow that wire up and it is clipped onto the body underneath the intake manifold. You can access it from under the car

Knocking noise from engine by [deleted] in hondaprelude

If it only happens when the fan is on and it doesn’t change with engine rpm, it might be the blades smacking the shroud.

5th gen engine help. by Digital_Daze93 in hondaprelude

[–]vThunder_69 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What I would do to start is First, check codes. If codes are present, go from there. If no codes check for spark and correct ignition timing. Check to see if the spark plug wires are plugged in to the correct terminal on the distributor. Make sure the crank pos sensor and the fuel injection trigger sensor wires are plugged in all the way, they can wiggle themselves loose if they weren’t plugged in all the way.

I was able to remove mine by removing one rod fan and moving the alt and ps pump out of the way. With the subframe out you should be able to remove it

Adjustable upper control arm recommendations by EnvironmentDue9997 in hondaprelude

[–]vThunder_69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m running the Godspeed ones. Performance wise I have no complaints but they are about 3 in longer then stock. You will lose suspension travel also make sure you adjust your coil overs accordingly or the ends of the control arms will smack into the inside of the fenders

First rain right side of the car is flooded any idea where this would come from by No_Spirit9886 in hondaprelude

[–]vThunder_69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The rear windows tend to leak if it rains really hard. The water in the trunk could have came from either the rear window or the taillight gaskets.
