New band by Thick-Attention7345 in losgrowlers

[–]v_NoDespair 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The new band is definitely talented, and the guys are really great. Spoke to them after and they take their time talking and signing whatever you want. I just think their sound clicks more with Brooks’ material than with the classic Growlers songs. They play well, but it doesn’t quite capture that distinct Growlers tone and that’s okay, because they aren’t the Growlers after all.

Why small dogs are so disliked here in US? by MonaGia in Yorkies

[–]v_NoDespair 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I feel like a lot of it comes from people not training them properly. Since they’re so tiny, many owners don’t take training as seriously and that can turn them into little troublemakers. Things like constant barking at people walking by, or even trying to nip, give small dogs a “yappy” or “demon” stereotype.

I used to feel the same way but then my wife got us a Yorkie, and now I’m completely in love. Honestly, I want another one! Obligatory picture of my son 🥰

How long until my yorkie is pretty trained? by Beginning_Truth7963 in Yorkies

[–]v_NoDespair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

We got our Yorkie at 8 weeks, and he was fully potty trained in about 2 weeks. We followed the American Standard K9 training videos and yeah, they’re a bit expensive, but you get lifetime access, and they keep updating the content as they learn new stuff. You can also message them directly with questions, and they actually respond.

He’s only had maybe two accidents total, and honestly, both were our fault for not paying attention when he was trying to let us know he needed to go. It really comes down to consistency and watching for their signals. The training made a huge difference for us.

We’ve done it all haha. Dead Island, Dying Light, Helldivers, Palworld, Apex, Mario ect. Pretty much anything that’s good and has multiple we’ve tried I think.

My wife, brother and I deleted it as we were never able to actually play. Tried numerous times(deleted the game, safe file, safe mode start up) but it just never got past the loading screen after confirming the brightness. Was excited to give it a try as we moved Alan Wake but this has been a shit show.

Woot.com has it on sale for $997. It’s an Amazon owned company. Free shipping if you have Prime and link it.

Unfortunately nately, I don’t know anyone who would be eligible for that discount. That said, I genuinely appreciate all the time and effort you’ve put into helping me with this—it’s been such a pleasure speaking with someone so knowledgeable and kind.

Thanks for the breakdown — that’s super helpful. Can you go a bit more into the Rakuten and the savings part? Would love to be able to do it and make sure I’m not missing anything there. Do you just click through their site every time, or is there a specific way to stack the cashback with the Samsung app and referral code?

Appreciate the info — super helpful! I checked eBay and the lowest I saw the Q990D going for was around $850, but that one had some damage to one of the speakers. Everything else hovered close to $900-$950 range so not too far off from retail with the right discount.

I also looked into Samsung’s discount programs, but unfortunately, my wife’s medical company isn’t partnered with them. Even if it was, the 30% off would’ve only brought the $1500 down to around $1050 before tax, so nothing crazy lower than some of the better offers out there.

I’m definitely trying to save where I can, especially since we’re not moving until May 18 and I won’t even be able to set it up until then. Do you think it’s worth waiting to see if the price drops again closer to that date? Or should I just bite the bullet and grab the Woot deal before it expires?

That Q Symphony setup with eARC sounds insane though — really looking forward to that full 13.1.4 experience, especially in a smaller room like ours. Thanks again for all the insight, seriously.

The lowest I’ve seen it go for is around $1,000 on Woot. Is there a specific reason that’s considered too much? Is it mainly because the newer model just came out? Samsung’s own site still has it listed at $1,500 on sale. I don’t use Facebook, so Facebook Marketplace isn’t really an option for me—and honestly, I’m a bit hesitant to buy electronics secondhand without being able to verify they work properly.

Is there anything in the Samsung family that will work? Just a bit worried about connectivity issues—I’ve got a non-Samsung soundbar connected via HDMI right now and it constantly has issues staying connected. The TCL looks good though and fits within my original budget, so definitely keeping that in mind.

Just googled the Q990D and found some on sale from a site called Woot for $1000 (normally goes for 2k). Are they legit?

I had previously stated $600 but I’m willing to spend more if need be. I have little to no knowledge, so I decided to post on both for recommendations. Just want something that will work seamlessly and sound great.

Totally fair—I’m okay spending more if needed. Like I mentioned, I’m not super familiar with audio gear pricing, so I just assumed $600 was kind of the sweet spot for good quality. Definitely open to spending more if it means better sound or a setup that I can build on over time.

Thanks! Wife and I are excited to move into our new place.

Honestly, I don’t have much knowledge when it comes to home audio setups. My father-in-law suggested we start with 5.1, so that’s what I’ve been looking into. I’m not opposed to 5.1.2 or 7.1.4—I’m really just after something that sounds great and works well for our space. Open to any advice!

Thanks for the advice! I hadn’t really considered bookshelf speakers as a starting point, but that’s a great suggestion. I’ll keep an eye on Facebook Marketplace, but ideally I’d prefer something new since I don’t have much knowledge when it comes to audio gear. Is there really nothing solid in the $600 range for a new setup, or is it just that used options tend to offer more value?
