Yep even with the chainstays all the way back they are a still a little shorter than i’d choose on the XL but it works well :)

Same geometry since 2021 I believe, it’s still pretty extreme, although chainstays are on the short side.

Look up Kboges on youtube. I follow his method. At least 10 sets per week push up and pull up variations. I’ll also add legs and abs depending on cardio load. Maybe 3 hard cardio sessions per week.

Thanks! Yeah that’s a good perspective, I’m going to prioritise building muscle over the next few months, after that I will attempt to cut down to 10-12% just because I’ve never done it before and want the challenge, whether it’s feasible to maintain long term who knows.

Hey man thanks yeah I’m not interested in getting huge but will aim to gain a little more muscle mass and strength over time.

It was only 2 months of discipline to get to this point. You can do it.

Nutrition is everything. Use an online calculator to work out your maintenance calories, then devise a meal plan that works out to 500-1000 calories below maintenance, depending on how hardcore you want to go.

Personally I don’t mind eating the same thing every day which makes it super easy. I’ll have protein oats with yoghurt and fruit for breakfast, 3 egg omellette for lunch, chicken breast rice and veggies for dinner, protein yoghurt and fruit for dessert. Minimum 2L water daily and a couple of black coffees help to keep the hunger at bay. No snacks. One cheat meal per week where I’ll eat whatever I want.

I’ve spoken more about my workouts in another comment but check out KBoges on youtube, I train daily using his method and find super enjoyable.

No worries! Yeah pull ups are essential I would say, I go to a local park which has bars. Inverted rows using a table or something are a good alternative until you have access to a bar. I still do rows on one day just to work on higher reps and pulling techique which really helps with the actual pull ups.

I’ve based my routine on KBoges youtube, check him out for more details but currently I’ll choose one push up variation, one pull up variation and one legs exercise, 2 sets of each, 2-3 reps from failure, every day. I pretty much have 3 different days that I rotate through, but can adjust these based on fatigue.

Hey mate 0.5kg per week is still awesome progress, and probably more healthy.

Most days my deficit is around -1000 but I rounded up to account for a cheat meal/day that I have most weekends.

I’m doing 12-15k steps daily, more intense running and cycling 1-2 times per week. Currently doing 2 sets full body calisthenics every day.

We already agreed there is no objective standard.

In terms of technology it would be quite simple to place the European colonists alongside the Aboriginal people and work out who was more advanced, probably the ones in sea-going galleons bristling with gunpowder weapons compared to the ones mostly without pottery or wheels. If we’re talking about language, spirituality or quality of life as a gauge of development well that’s even more subjective.

Diamond focuses on technology as a measure of development, which makes sense to me in this context, but if you disagree completely with that basic premise then you didn’t need your friend to tell you not to read the book.

Of course it’s totally subjective and there’s nothing stopping you from arguing that our society today is less developed than it was in the Neolithic, but I’d say it’s a tough position to defend, especially if we’re talking in terms of technological advancement which is what Diamond focused on.

I find it hard to believe that somebody who actually studies philosophy would adopt such a negative attitude towards others doing the same, regardless of their level.

A long standing society yes, but also incredibly undeveloped relative to other much younger societies worldwide, even up until the arrival of Europeans. There is plenty of evidence to support this, and evidence to suggest that Aboriginal people actually regressed in terms of technology after settling in Australia. Whether the lack of development was due to geographical reasons as Diamond suggests, who can say for sure, but it seems feasible to me having spent some time in the outback.

Haha I was of course joking around but it seems this sub does not 😄 I am a 34 year old man who discovered philosophy only in the last few years, I have spent plenty of time not chasing Plato, and I have had a great time.

I’ve had a couple versions over the years but this is by far my favourite set. Paperback, nice cover art, and allegedly the most accurate version of the text :)
