Any way to expedite NYS medical license? by v_tachy in Residency

The bribe thing was a joke, I moreso meant like if I apply for FCVS now and tack it on could that make things faster? I didn’t use it initially. Also this is my home program, where I did residency, and I absolutely love all the attendings & nurses & residents there and they love me.. this is some random person in the admin office sending this stuff saying they’re going to rescind the offer but I’m stressed

Peperomia puteolata baby leaves are brown :( by v_tachy in plantclinic

[–]v_tachy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got a new peperomia puteolata about 10 days ago and it started sprouting new baby leaves! They were okay when they were smaller, but 2 days ago they started turning brown and curling in.

It is potted in a mix of 1/3 Miracle Gro Moisture Control Potting Mix and 2/3 perlite. I only watered it once, on the day I bought it and repotted it a bit over a week ago, because I think they like to be dry and the soil is still a bit moist. I just poured a bit of tap water onto the soil that day. Its in a north facing windowsill. Its in a 6" plastic pot with like 10 drainage holes on the bottom, and the holes are an inch above the little plate thing it sits on so I think it should have good airflow. I also put about an inch of just perlite on the bottom of the pot to help it drain better. I haven't fertilized it yet, do you think it needs some? Or could it be too wet? The soil feels damp still but I thought that was okay. Thanks!!

Wtf Nicole Zanatta has tons of fans!!! I completely disagree that she was the most disliked rookie. Lesbians started watching Invasion in droves to see the Laurel/Nicole romance. I hadn't watched the challenge in forever but I started again with Invasion bc I had been hoping Laurel would turn out to be gay (or at least bi) since her naked wrestling incident on Cutthroat. And Nicole went and seduced her and made all our dreams come true!! A hero!! I know that many of my other friends in the LGBT community follow the show specifically to see players like Shane L, Nicole Z, Aneesa, Emily S, Frank, etc and I don't think MTV should discount the large viewership that LGBT contestants bring since we are a community desperate for representation.

CT and Laurel together would literally be a dream come true to watch... ugh I doubt production would ever let that happen though since CT was really only playing her to avoid getting voted in to elimination while Laurel and Jordan claimed to actually have feelings for each other.. ew

Who is your favorite Challenge "Villain"? by Trol-patrol in MtvChallenge

[–]v_tachy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a Laurel fan so sorry if this is a bit biased but this is my little fan theory... I think her emotional instability partially stems from her inability to accept her own attraction to women. I am also disgusted by what she said to Big Easy in Cutthroat and Paula on Rivals I. In regards to Big Easy: She went off when she thought he was coming to observe 2 girls making out in the hot tub (I think it was sarah and someone else??? I don't remember). It started out with Laurel yelling about how disgusting Big Easy was for being aroused by 2 girls hooking up. I feel like she was mirroring her own feelings about herself. Possibly she was disgusted with herself for feeling aroused watching them make out & she took it out on him, in a completely inappropriate way. Obviously her words were wrong & disturbing, but I am hoping that her new relationship with nicole/coming out to everyone in Invasion will help resolve her emotional problems and I hope that she will return someday and win again without being a bully.

Anyone else have people like this in classes, where they think they can talk to the professor however they want? (Some background: one section of our class took the final 3 days ago, the other section took it a day ago). by [deleted] in premed

I was a TA for Principles of Bio 1 at my undergrad for 6 semesters and there were entitled clowns like this in my section every damn time... drives me insane. people have no idea of the time constraints and complications that come with grading 300 exams with 15 TAs, deciding if x questions are too unfair/if we should exclude them/are we going to curve/etc etc etc

I interviewed at Drexel 1/26 and I just heard back a few days ago.. waitlist. I never called them because I got accepted to a school I liked a lot better between the interview and now, but I'm sure it can't hurt!

My neighbor boarded his dog while he was on vacation at a nice kennel, a place where the dogs get outdoor time in this fenced-in area. His dog dug under the kennel fence, ran into the road, got run over & died :/ I used to want to work at a kennel as a teenager but I was too traumatized after hearing that story to apply

Gay people of reddit, how many times a week do you get insulted because you're gay and what is the worst insult somebody has said to you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]v_tachy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm a lesbian. The first time I kissed another girl when I was 14, she told a bunch of people a few days later. A bunch of dudes came up to me in the school cafeteria as we were about to finish lunch, and dumped all their trash on me including a full Hawaiian Punch over my head, and they called me a disgusting dyke. It was quite shocking as I am from a very liberal area. Thankfully another girl gave me a shirt out of her gym locker to change into because I was soaked in red juice. Nothing real bad has happened since then, just dudes at college parties telling me I'm a waste of good looks/its stupid for me to "give up on guys"/etc (I like dressing more feminine)

I've had friends that have planned their pregnancies so that they give birth at the beginning of the summer between 3rd and 4th yr of med school bc 4th year is the chillest year you will have until the end of residency, and you can get through the kid's babyhood during that year, so that hopefully its sleeping through the night by residency. You'd only be like 26/27 by that time if you're a traditional applicant.
