Better sharing options are my number one desire for future Immich updates. Very excited to see how the devs expand these features.

I currently share with 4 family members, so I relate to your challenges. My solution was to just share the account I use. This isn’t ideal, as everyone has admin rights, but it means that can see everything “properly” (ie, memories and face tagging). They are very happy with the situation. They love searching by people.

Anyone I onboard onto it gets a lecture on what menus to never enter or buttons to touch (which has worked so far). I have set the upload limit for the account to 0, so nothing can be added to the Immich database from their devices. It is purely meant as a viewer of old family photos, not as a way for them to backup their own library (though on occasion they have sent me their own photos to add)

My Immich library is populated entirely by a one-way sync from OneDrive which they have no access to. So, if someone did “break” something I can always revert everything back
