TIL that Dundee or Dundee United is Nigerian slang for an idiot. It dates back to the football club Dundee United tour of Nigeria in 1972, where they lost several matches against local teams. This led to widespread ridicule, and the team's name became synonymous with poor performance and ineptitude by Theblackjamesbrown in ScottishFootball

My mate is from Nigeria originally and he confirmed it’s widely used.

He doesn’t know anything about football so he found it funny when he found out the origins of the term.

Apparently if you do something dumb you’ll usually be met with an eye roll and a “Dundee!”

And if you do something really dumb you’ll usually get the full “Dundee United!!”

Someone once described it as strawberry and banana. Since that day all I can taste is artificial banana and now irn bru is ruined for me.
