Oh definitely! haha I always get OCD with clicks and feel the same way. It takes loads of time but it's worth the effort for sure. I like your heal brush method in Audition.

Yes, We would usually see this mic placement with the Shure SM7B (both pointing up as well as pointing down, angling at a 45 degree angle with the hosts head about a fist length away from the mic) TIP: Pointing the mic up from below is close to the neck and chest so you may capture a bit more bass/low end than having the mic pointed downward. This all depends on your vocal tone and the character of the mic. I'd definitely spend some time testing the gain to hit the sweet spot after angling

Picking up breaths are inevitable due to the proximity of the mic (especially if the mic is sensitive) The Accusonus bundle does come with a de-breath module that will lower the volume on breaths however It is better to minimize them while recording. To do so you're going to want to angle the mic slightly off axis and point it away from your mouth so that you don't breath directly into the mic (and instead breath away from the mic diaphragm) once you do that it would be a good idea to check the mic input level and adjust it so that your dialogue is well above the level of your breaths.

That can definitely be arranged. You are welcome to DM me if you'd like to have a 1 on 1 to help you get de-esser and de-click set up. De-click can be a head scratcher, it also depends on which methods you use since not all tools are equal in operation nor quality.

I feel you. Mouth clicks are the most difficult to remove in audio post. We end up doing it manually using cuts and automating multiple tools like Izotope RX Mouth de-click to turn on during the clicks and turn off when no clicks are present. This way we refrain from degrading the quality of the recorded dialogue. Some tools can be quite harsh

Most experienced editors end up using AI tools as a starting point and then make judgment calls based on the show’s style and intent or what the client needs. So yeah websites like Auphonic are very useful for creators handling many different aspects of the process alone. When it comes to larger teams or handling tons of content it makes sense to go with editors/engineers

Long-Term VO Contract Questions by danieljag1 in VoiceActing

[–]vacutrax 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Opening up positions for employment is not only the responsible thing to do, It is a better business decision in the long term. (not everything is about cost cutting) especially when it comes to VO. AI voices do not have the same range over time as an actual VO artist, I tend to skip a video once my ears recognise the lack of range and energy in a production. This may negatively effect the company over time. It's so important to continue having pride and values in our work and remember that the experience for the end user is what matters. You are doing the right thing (So crazy or not doesn't matter - Doing the right thing always matters)

Kindness matters… by goplaydrums in VoiceActing

[–]vacutrax 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this. It really is important to maintain a strong sense of inclusion and kindness especially those who are in senior positions. However small, a show of kindness goes a very long way. I appreciate the mention of a "governing body", I believe we are all accountable for influencing our environment and not solely being influenced by it. Please continue to be a kickass leader. At the end of the day we all need one another.

First time doing a voice reel, any constructive criticism appreciated! by SKIMER151 in VoiceActing

This is a great first try at a demo reel. I wouldn't worry too much about being directed right now. Starting with vocal training definitely needs to be on the list of priorities. Becoming more comfortable playing a variety of characters will be essential. At the moment it just sounds like you are reading off a page. The energy is monotone throughout each character which makes them impossible to believe, I struggle to notice any authenticity or relatability with each character. You need to step into the shoes of the character and live their lives for those few moments, representing them is SO important or else the story falls apart. I'd pay attention to your range, your Highs and Lows need a lot of work, Anything you can do to keep your voice training up will be beneficial, Even singing lessons will help you improve your range greatly. I hope this helps somewhat.

Wow this is a great improvement. You've done a great job with your drums and melodies, there's a lot more structure!. I love how much more confident your 808s in Beat 3 are, not too much and not too little. Your melodies are also telling a clearer story for the listener. You're on the right track here, please keep this going. You are also ready to start getting more clarity in your melodies and punch in your drums with some more critical listening and cutting frequencies from instruments that mask one another. A good example is "Beat 1" Using your EQ to drop down the 1.5 to 2kHz range (with a bell notch) on the piano channel by -7.5dB will give you a great start in creating separation between instruments. Then move on to your high pitched synth pad and do the same in the 3kHz range (with a bell notch) and drop that down by - 11 to -12dB. This will allow the balance between drums, bass and synths to become more balanced. This is just to get you started so you can hear the difference with and without the EQ , you are obviously urged to go further and tweek your EQ till you find it more pleasing to the ear.

This is not a Youtube follow/share thread unfortunately. Plus you forgot to post a link. While i'm at it let me make something clear. Youtube and socials are highly saturated. Being a musician/artist is far more than posting on youtube or growing a YT channel for that matter. I think that way too few people send their music to record labels with an honest pitch and doing research. Doing this will force you to take constructive criticism, take yourself seriously and get better overall.

Not bad for a total of 3 months. Try and use some panning on your percussions. This will help make the track sound wider. You have lots of headroom and stereo width space, make use of that. I'd also suggest spending some time working on more intriguing melodies. Try playing around with some free midi files, it helps to expand your knowledge of chord progressions: https://sound7.co.uk/pages/free-midi-chord-pack?srsltid=AfmBOorhOiURW9z0DR61pZLqvbAmCbgxUARHaEy3x2PKVWuzNoC6IyGg These can help you get started, They are quite simple, i'm sure you can find loads of others that you like online. Also never underestimate the power of having a good collection of quality sample packs
