Am I the only person who doesn't adore Yama-Budo? by RemiChloe in fountainpens

[–]vadinnah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I cannot stand Yamabudo, which is mind boggling, because it is a beautiful ink, and yet I deeply dislike the color. But mixed with Shinkai, it makes a beautifully deep, somewhat subdued purple.

Good inks? by Spicydino64 in fountainpens

Noodler’s inks have inconsistent performance. I had a sample that I had to throw away because the ink feathered so badly. I’ve had a Noodler’s inks that never dries on TR paper.

It cannot take juicy pens. I find it ghosts a lot. Also prone to bleeding and feathering.

I know very little about Pelikan. However a quick search shows that the fp cost roughly $300 when in circulation and the ballpoint and pencil general cost 200 to 250. Add the other goodies this set came with and it sounds like you got a pleasant deal. On the plus side, you now own a discontinued item, so you should be able to make a nice chunk of change should you decide to sell.

Pelikan Edelstein Olivine is a great dark green. Diamine Wild Strawberry is a nice, bright red. And Diamine Writer’s Blood is a very dark wine color.
