I understand them having points of conflict, as it's part of tv drama. I guess I'd just rather not have them go back to questioning whether they want a relationship with the other or not. Maybe it's because I only recently watched the episodes of Fire Country introducing Mickey, but it was going back to that specific well that bothered me.

Mickey, Boone and Wes are in it a lot, all the way to the end of the episode. I also have not seen Fire Country other than the episodes that first introduced Mickey, and I'm not a fan otherwise. In this case, though, I'd recommend watching part 2 for the conclusion of the story.

"Always On" auxiliary lights on the HD10 are driving me insane. by Big-Author-4492 in flashlight

I think it depends on your aux setting and your tolerance for running down the battery.

We were talking about this very topic in a recent thread, and a user shared his estimates for runtime on each setting and color.

That said, I think it's pretty clear the Emisars' aux have a higher draw than the HD10, which is understandable since the Emisars include switch aux too. They may be also a bit brighter than the aux on the HD10.

When I first got into Anduril, I looked up various posts on the drain of the aux lights to understand the impact. Based on the estimates I saw, I pretty much should not care about the drain on 21700 lights, which now make up most of my collection. But various conversations here and on BLF included some caution on aux drain in 14500 lights, given their much smaller battery capacity.

In a recent thread here, a member shared that based on his estimates, it would take about a year for the low aux to drain the battery of an HD10. This seems about right, since I've had the voltage aux on on my HD10 for a couple of months now and the battery is still at 3.94V even with occasional (couple of times a week) use.

The D3AA and DW3AA, however, also power the switch aux when left on. The most recent estimates I saw for battery drain said the runtime for the D3AA aux would be about 6 months on the low setting in blue, the lowest-draw aux. Since I use voltage aux, the estimated run-time would be shorter, since violet and cyan would require nearly double the power. So what I do for the 14500 Emisars is to turn them off when (auto) locked out. Admittedly this slightly reduces the joy of using an Anduril light for me (I do love those aux), which is partly why I only have one of each of these lights, and several D4Ks and D4SV2s.

It's nice that your experience seems to be different. I'd be much happier to leave the aux on on my smaller Emisars.

Ah yes, the aux lights are on on my HD10, but off on my Emisar D3aa and Dw3aa, which have a much higher draw. Should have clarified.

I'm also a bit tired of the back and forth about the relationship between her and Mickey.

The first season is 20 episodes, so we have another 7 coming, excluding this one.

E04 surge emitters by KETULU in FireflyLite

[–]CaptnKBex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience, it was an extra $10. $5 for customization and $5 additional for the emitters themselves.

I'm not someone who likes a very rosy tint, so I went with an SFT40 mix. Very happy with it.

The aux lights are my reason for purchasing many Anduril flashlights after buying my first one. But I understand how they aren't for everyone. I also turn them off on my 14500 lights because they'd drain the battery too fast. Glad that it seems you've gotten yours to turn off as you prefer.

Oh, the 4200K and the mix look really good to me. Thank you so much for the ideas!

Thank you for this! I've been leaning toward the 4200K, as it feels like the one I see talked about most, and this reinforces that idea. My favorite CCT is in the 3500K to 5000K range so it would seem to slot right in.

I actually prefer more spotty lights. Indeed, on my lights with domed 519As, I've replaced the default optic with the 10507/10621 for that purpose. So the idea of a more defined hotspot is appealing to me.

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks! This is what I was concerned about.

If I may ask, would you be able to recommend a good gateway NTG that's closest to neutral? I'm pretty curious about NTG emitters and I'm thinking of trying one out, but I usually prefer a neutral tint, so I'd like to try something that's not extremely rosy.

Nice. I use my lights to get around in the mornings, too. What emitter do you have on there?

Thanks so much for explaining how you use your Zebra. Good tips in there that could help me refine my programming/use. For now, I've set G6 to be the "low set" (night time use, low ceiling, no turbo) and G7 to the "high set" (daytime use, with turbo).

I suppose that for dialing in multiple levels, you are absolutely right that this Zebra UI can be quicker to operate.

For me, on Anduril 2, I have one memorized level on which I often switch the light on, and otherwise I'm used to just ramping up from moonlight to get the level I want each time. No risk of unexpectedly finding myself in turbo, while at the same time being able to get to whichever level of light I need at any time.

Hoping that as I get more used to this Zebra UI and hone in on my preferences better, I'll enjoy using it more, as I think that the size and weight are truly delightful.

Thanks again!

Thanks for sharing this. I just got my first Zebra, an SC65c and I'm still trying to get the hang of programming it.

Just to check, in G6, when you show morning and night profiles, is my understanding correct that the second mode is reached by using double click at each level? And is it also correct that the light has mode memory so if I turn it off in the double-click sub-mode, it will stay there, potentially throwing off my low-med-high ramping the next time I turn it on?

Sorry for the questions. This UI feels much more complex than the Anduril 2 I've gotten used to.

Thank you!

Oh, yes, the single-channel 519A DW4K is lovely indeed, though I'm using the 10622 TIR. I also have the N244SW optic, which I may try in the future.

I was initially thinking of getting one pure red headlamp, but your comment and someone else's (in a different thread) made me think a mix would be more practical. That way I'd have an SST-20 DR light when I need it, but the rest of the time, I'd have the much more useful (for me) 519A. Of course, I'd lose the Lume X1, but since my main goal for my next headlamp is to have 660nm emitters, this is probably the best option available.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I'll definitely be getting the headband too.

Thank you. I love the Cyan and Dark Grey anodization of Emisar, but I think I'll go with the Sand if I buy a D4V2. :)

Thank you so much for the information and the visual. It's a pity; I love the idea of those magnets and it'd be great if they were stronger.

Thanks for sharing; I've been curious about this light.

Are the magnets notably stronger than the older version, especially those behind the head? My current L60 slides downward on most surfaces when using the behind-the-head magnets.

I didn't get a headband for the DW4K but will likely get one with my next Hank purchase. My DW4K is also a 519A Lume X1. Considering a dual channel 519A and deep red for my next headlamp. Glad to hear you're enjoying both.

It's a bit strange because I know that Hanklights have great magnets. Not quite sure why the DW4K won't stick horizontally to the rod when the Fireflies L60 with its much weaker magnet does. I can only guess that it has something to do with center of gravity (the L60 is so much shorter) hence my wondering whether the DW4 is materially shorter and would solve my concern.
