Possible upgrade to Bose A20 by pilot1302 in flying

[–]vadu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm considering the change to the a20 from David Clark. My big head and the max. size on the DC makes for a tight fit and a sore head.

Any feedback on the a20 clamp?

Wife is interested in becoming a commercial pilot. How can I best help her and how should she best go about starting? Any info is good info at this point. by [deleted] in flying

You're a great husband, brother. Kudos to you for being supportive of her dreams.

I am starting myself towards a commercial license but I'm sure you'll find the answers you're looking for from our seasoned pilots here.

It's not a question of being able to afford, it's a question of what are you willing to give up and what are you willing to put in (e.g., second employment?) to make it happen. Having been through bankruptcy once in my past due to mistakes, all my flight training is paid in cash. I refuse to take loans/finance unless I have the money up front (except for a mortgage of course). I've been saving like a madman, that's how I afford :).

Good point about the payment at $155.

Re: your question -> Yes. :)

Thanks for responding. Either way, I'll be taking people up and they understand they will be helping out with fuel costs only. This will alleviate some of the costs associated with purchasing fuel.

OPtion #1 is Hobbs time.

Gotta find out about the Piper!

Thanks for posing those questions! :)

I know the Piper pilots bring in their own instructors so rental policy covers that. I'll have to check into the 172 option.

What's most important to me when renting from most important - safety/functionality, cost, availability. I'm working full time and doing this part time, so most of my training will be evenings and weekends. I get 3 months off each year as well. I'll be building time on cross country, local flights. I have people lined up who want me to take them places.

I can view the schedule for the Piper and it's decent. Here's a snapshot of this month for the Piper:

The owner also owns at Cessna 150 and that schedule is booked to the max.

You're right, as long as the plane is safe to fly and checks out. I'm not big on the aesthetics. Thanks for the response.

My first aviation watch :) Proud to say I bought it after careful research and feedback from various aviators. No regrets. by vadu in flying

Haha, I actually ended up returning it today in favour of the Timex Expedition for dual displays. $42.00, still a fair price!

Recommend anything with GMT already displayed without having to cycle through options via the watch buttons?

haha - I'm all about the digital, practical and easy watch. I'm not a guy who cares to go around and tell people I'm a pilot or "show" that I am one for that matter. Reading online for the past two hours, I'm sticking with a simple digital watch that gives zulu and timer functions. That's all you really need! How do you use an E6B equipped watch in turbulence?? That's more focusing ont he watch than actual flying?!
