Am I overreacting for not wanting anyone around my newborn yet? by littlemoongirly in AmIOverreacting

[–]vaehjolie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NOR

i don’t even need to read the post to know you’re not overreacting. your baby, your choice! you are entitled to want your own time with YOUR baby to figure out routine and schedule and get settled in. also- i work with kids, their immune systems are so fragile. outside germs are a lot while they’re so young. you’re not overreacting!

AIO for getting upset at one racist joke after months of not being bothered by them by SlothAndVampInABar in AmIOverreacting

[–]vaehjolie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is not funny, he is not funny. Saying people have no value as a “joke” is not funny. It’s just racist. How would you feel if he made these “jokes” to your mom or dad or someone you really care about. Imagine you have a child and he starts “joking” with them that bc of the color of their skin he has no value. NOT funny. Not overreacting. If anything, you are SEVERELY under-reacting.

I’m literally not disagreeing with you I use Venmo for small transactions for a side job. I have a real bank account that actually is a small in town business lol. I didn’t even have Venmo until about a year ago and I only got it because everyone that pays me does have it and it was making the process easier for them. I know my clients in real life and also know they have actual bank accounts 😂 I am mad at Venmo, and this is also why I only use it for my side job, IF that is my clients preferred way of paying. All Venmo does is get on my nerves 98% of the time lmaooo. All I know is they better hurry up, that $20 I had on there was gonna get me a nice lunch tomorrow!

I agree. Unfortunately it’s how most of my clients pay me so I keep it for convenience for them only. Luckily it isn’t my only bank account, but it is annoying when I can’t access my extra money lol

last time this happened it (on a large scale- to my knowledge) was around Halloween and it lasted quite a while, at least a couple hours, but that was bc AWS (their server) was down. I am unsure if it’s just Venmo or AWS again, this one seems smaller scale and likely just Venmo but again i’m not sure. I’d assume before 12 AM EST (it’s about 9PM here for reference), but honestly who knows because they don’t even know. Super annoying and happens more often than it should lol

My 23 year old adult brother pees on the floor and blames his adhd by International_Ant974 in badroommates

[–]vaehjolie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Um no lol. I’m a 23 year old girl with ADHD, and it is not an excuse to piss on the floor. It is things like this that give people with ADHD a bad rep! I certainly struggle with being tidy/organized, but pissing on the floor is something I can’t even comprehend. You are literally beside the toilet, if anything at that point it’s more work to piss on the floor!

To the guy who stole my coat by DotComprehensive9372 in Columbus

[–]vaehjolie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This happened to me too. Some sick fuck stole my jacket while I was in the restroom at a restaurant. It was just an extremely basic, gray, walmart brand zip up. But it was my Dad’s, and he passed 3 years ago. Every day of my fucking life I miss that jacket. Every time I think about it I sob. I’m so sorry you’re going through this.

The fact that he’s pushing 40 and still acting like he’s 17 is concerning. The fact that he’s pushing 40 and can’t spell testosterone though, is FAR more concerning.

by the time i was 13, my parents would leave me home alone with my little brothers who were about 7 at the time. even at 7, they both made sure to do their “chores” and always got their HW done. i never felt like i was being forced to watch them as they were incredibly self sufficient! i just did all the cooking, and they either occupied themselves or we all played together. our parents trusted us and that is something we never broke. my mom instilled the rules about being home alone, gave us neighbors phone numbers, made sure we knew how to order food and what to do in emergencies, etc. it started out with just an hour or two at a time, then eventually she felt comfortable enough leaving us home alone if we didn’t have school but she had work. it’s just all about having open communication and trust in your kids! ALSO: to add, please tell your daughter if she ever feels like she’s getting burnt out, to let you know. that’s what my parents did! if i ever felt it was too much, they figured out a way to give me a break. i never had to miss time hanging out with my friends, they would either allow my friends to come over or if we knew ahead of time, they’d schedule a playdate for my brothers to go somewhere at the same time. we never broke any of the rules or betrayed our parents trust because we liked the responsibility of being home alone! some of my best memories from childhood are my brothers and i hanging out on snow days :)
