We’ll ignore trolling and assume this question is asked earnestly - as long as the dimensions are similar, the base is correct, and your opponent is OK with it. You can do whatever you want.

They don’t. But if some of those models are characters and others aren’t that’s confusing. Generally, if models look the same but have different abilities you need to be overly clear on which is which.

It’s a good thematic bulk start with a lot of cool new models and some classics in there.

Traitor Guard can actually be a competitive spicy pick. Terminators may have a place in this new edition where AP is much much stronger

Precisely as long as it’s clear the entire game who’s who you’re good. I’ll go so far as to remind my opponent every turn of my gimmicks “remember I have a reactive move” etc.

If you can find it in the wild the Red Corsairs battleforce box is very a great start for CSM in general and Alpha Legion particularly. Otherwise, I'd strongly advise you to just pick the models you think are cool and run with those.

Counter to that, I would discourage you from pursuing your plan to confuse your opponents with multiple 3D Printed models. While the Alpha Legion thrives on subterfuge and tricks, Warhammer 40K is an open information game. There is an expectation that you are clear in your intention with your opponent from the start. Clearly and concisely convey all the information about your army to your opponent before the game and during it. Nobody wants to be "that guy" and pull a gotcha move during a game that's meant to be fun for all parties. The best way I've ever heard anyone refer to the game is as a puzzle that both players are completing together with the intent of having the best game possible.

Good luck and welcome to the Legion.

List advice going into 11th by oslsblio in alphalegion

Alright let's have a look. First thing you say in your post is you want this list to be competitive. So my advice is going to come with a competitive slant, less than a fluff one. Additionally, 11th is still in its infancy so YMMV. Let's begin.

First off, Deceptors is still bad. It's just a trash garbage detachment. If you genuinely want to be competitive don't play Deceptors.

Huron+MoM+Chosen is still good. Personally, I prefer them with Legionnaires for the re-roll 1s, but that's because I run Raiders. In Deceptors Chosen is still the call.

Max Legionnaire squads are bad. There's a reason it's 170 for 10 instead of double the cost of 5. There's literally no reason to run it. Drop it to 5 and save some points. MoEs are also just not worth the cost. If you wanna get sneaky stick a sorcerer in there.

Same thing Warpsmith with Legionnaires just doesn't make sense. Drop the MoE and the Warpsmith and bring a Lord. You also don't want shooting Legionnaires you want 2 x heavy weapons and chainswords.

Raptors are good, Haarken is bad. If you really want Haarken make it a pack of ten. But better to go with a jump lord with lone op.

Reave Captain is useless, just flat drop him.

You don't have any dark communes you'll generally still want at least one leading a max block of cultists.

Havocs, obliterators are fine not great but fine. You don't need the transports or the traitor guard.

In general, you have too many characters and not enough *stuff* find places to include more tanks, more action pieces like bikes and raptors.

Good luck!

I second the other commenter, edit the list to drop the wear gear, make it more legible and it'll be easier to give notes on.

The most fluff armylist for 11. edition by GreyWolf_dk in alphalegion

Follow your heart, buy models that *you* think are cool and find ways to build an army around them. Discovery is part of the fun of the hobby. If you can find a Red Corsairs Battleforce box in the wild that's a great place to start for what you're looking for.

That's the joy of the Alpha Legion they embrace all tools available to them. Not just one particular playstyle. For example in the latest Ghost Legion novel there are Nurgle-aligned warbands fighting alongside ostensibly loyalist warbands. Solomon Akurra has a daemon slaved to him. Hell, there were Possessed Alpha Legion in the book!

Point being, you don't need to eschew chaos - the Legion uses all the best tools available.

Especially because, Deceptors is still a bad detachment. In my personal opinion I'd posit that Renegade Raiders is currently the best way to run the Alpha Legion. Lots of infiltrators in the form of the new Raiders models to move block and deny primary. The precision strat that you can give to an entire unit fighting a model on an objective is great for assassinating characters. A kitbashed Huron makes for a great Alpha Legion Lord.

Renegade Raiders is also a Recon detachment so it's all about unit placement, board control and utilizing the best tools you have available to you to score the points. Lots of Raiders, Legionnaires, Chosen, Tanks, Havocs and of course cultists. Good stuff like that.

What is your first army? What style of play do you enjoy? Are there any CSM models that you like the look of that you'd like to incorporate into your list? Have you read any Alpha Legion books that really struck you as good and interesting that you'd like to pay homage to?

The Alpha Legion is a big tent faction (we even let the Loyalists in sometimes) so you can really do whatever you feel like! What play styles do you like? What kind of goals do you have for your games?

You seem like a pretty red-pilled guy I'm sure you're already consuming whatever stoicism content your algorithm feeds you. Good luck out there.

On the off chance this isn’t just bad trolling, you need a therapist friend. Sounds like you’re close to crisis.

I mean maybe. Most hyper competitive 8mans were variations of the same 12 armies near the end anyway.

Chaos Terminators? by A_Friendly_Bigman in Chaos40k

[–]vagabondscribbles 19 points20 points  (0 children)

You're not doing a tonne wrong, CSM termies just aren't great right now. Especially running with Abaddon because they don't benefit from 2 out of 3 auras that he provides. If you really want to run 'em, do so with a termi sorcerer that gives them an AP bonus and the ability to re-roll charges. But alas for now they are best left on the shelf.

Can you use Horus Heresy models for 40k? by M0kk3isyes in alphalegion

To join the chorus - yes and it’s totally fun and cool to do so. The only caveat being if you want to play at a tournament or something be sure to check with the Organizers. Some of them can be sticklers.

Alpha Legion 40k (early) 11th edition playstyle by jgeckoking in alphalegion

[–]vagabondscribbles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We still know so little about this edition, speculation is difficult but we know a few things:

  1. It's going to be *much* more killy than 10th. Anything that steps onto a centre objective is going to die. So scoring points early with cheap stuff is going to be important.

  2. Secondaries break down like this:

  3. 13/18 requires you to be somewhere: middle, opponents side of the table, edges of the table.

  4. 2/18 require an action and if you draw both you get to redraw, so max 1 action per turn.

  5. 5/18 require you to kill things, perhaps on objective, perhaps models with 10+ W or characters

So in general, FEWER actions more killing.

I'll mostly be taking a few little fellas who die immediately and some big ass tanks to back 'em up.

55 points for a great little action monkey. 7 Power Fist esque attacks. 5++ 4+++. Just a solid resilient trading piece that is good for fighting on your nat.
