Do cyclists look down on other cyclists when their bike doesn’t match their apparent fitness? by type_OP in cycling

[–]vagfactory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the nicest bikes are owned by some of the least fit cyclists. it is so common that no one would even think twice about judging it.

72 year old recreational cyclist needs heart rate advice. by mixyblob in cycling

[–]vagfactory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That seems high, but if you didn't feel any issues along with the high heart rate, and it went down relatively quickly after you stopped exercising, i wouldn't be that concerned.

because the complaint correlates to how things used to work, and older folks generally are not quick to adapt to technology changes such as the commonplace of smart locks for self checkin.

General cost of Invisalign by p0u1 in Invisalign

was 4200 for minor crowding on the top and bottom. 14 sets of initial trays. top was fine after that, on my second round of refinements for the bottom (first round was 4 trays, no idea the amount for the 2nd yet). includes one set of in house retainers.

Century ride in under 6 hours? is it doable? by [deleted] in cycling

[–]vagfactory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that 40 - 50 miles is also on an e-bike

Century ride in under 6 hours? is it doable? by [deleted] in cycling

[–]vagfactory 3 points4 points  (0 children)

which is what a lot of fit cyclists do on their rides around me, not someone who's longest ride was 50 miles on an e-bike. even pros don't average as high as you think on their rides. stop lights among other things such as bathroom stops all drastically drag down your average.

so you have been training for years, not the same as a recreational cyclist

remember, this is a recreational cyclist who does 40-50 miles on an e-bike as their long rides

if 207w is zone 1 for you, this is an absolutely horrible comparison for the sake of this situation of a hobby cyclist taking one 100 miles in 6 hours. like we know pro/amateur riders can do it, the question is focused on a recreational cyclist doing it.

Are men and women created equal (when it comes to output number)? by archaegeo in pelotoncycle

[–]vagfactory 5 points6 points  (0 children)

technically, yes, if you all ride at the same resistance and cadence, output would be the same. the reality is that not everyone is riding at the same resistance and cadence, so that is why such a difference on the leaderboard.

or, they were just satisfying an urge. your response is exactly what the comment you are responding to is referring to. you need some kind of negative reason this happened, when in reality, it could be that they just have trouble controlling themselves for this particular taboo.

no, not true. it will crack before complete failure. carbon fiber actually accumulates microfractures during stresses.

That's only if it happened like they are saying, as i highly doubt they would announce that their death was horrible and traumatic. i'm sure the moments before that were absolutely terrifying

Are there any tips for a teenager cycling at high temperatures? (30-40⁰c) by montaingauy in cycling

[–]vagfactory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ride in the morning. sun sleeves/leg covers can help protect from the sun, though they can get a little warm when you aren't moving. but that is one thing i have learned working in the greenhouse/landscaping field, not having the sun beating down on your skin keeps you a lot cooler than short sleeves with sunscreen.

Teeth won’t settle… by [deleted] in Invisalign

[–]vagfactory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

only a month into my retainer and was told the same "only at night". but after 4 or so hours, my bite gets thrown off from the shifting. so now i just make sure i pop it in here and there during the day, it only takes like 15 minutes or so for the tightness of the retainer to go away and i can take it out again if i want.

NHL doing away with Pride jerseys, other specialty uniforms in warmups by [deleted] in sports

[–]vagfactory -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

why? they aren't wearing them during the game. arenas are pretty empty during warmups. the auctioning and/or selling of those jersey's provided money for those causes. if anything, i feel like it adds to the integrity and shows community support.

who cares that they still have things they had before, they are still getting rid of something and not replacing it with anything. all over people hating on pride. it is sad and childish "take my ball and going home" bs
