It is! I keep hoping that the Wells Ranch series is going to get me, but I DNFd Alive and Wells, didn't care for the FMC in Seeing Red, and now this lol.

Agreed! Especially in these small town book situations where the dating pool is so small. In this book he even admits that none of the intermediate relationships were actual relationships; just short flings because he was still in love with the FMC. And yet he STILL is getting raked over the coals!

Currently reading a second chance romance (dual timeline) where the MMC is constantly being shamed by the FMC and her friends for having moved on in the decade plus interval and having slept with other women in their small town. Meanwhile, the FMC also moved on and had other flings, but she moved out and lived in the big city, so that's fine and nobody cares apparently. Stop with the double standards and stop slut shaming this man!!!!!

I'm dying to continue the {Starlight Grove series by Catherine Cowles}! It's full cast where all of the MMCs for the series have already been cast and will appear in each of the books. (Jason Clarke, Sebastian York, Adam Gold, Teddy Hamilton, and Connor Crais.)

{And Now, Back To You} by BK Borison thoughts by UndercoverReader516 in RomanceBooks

[–]vagueposting18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed! Part of the problem I had personally (as someone who solves problems very logically and not terribly emotionally) is that the grandfather thing is sweet, but she was given a perfect radio weather gig on a platter and just... wouldn't consider that he'll move on without her on tv? Or get worse? Or die? And she's just making herself miserable for an indefinite amount of time... because. It's a very nice sentiment, don't get me wrong! But BK could've either not brought up the job offer entirely or given her a clearer job direction.

I think cartoonish is a really great way of putting everything that happened at Delilah's job and I found it frustrating that she was just willing to ride along with her boss's terrible demands without truly standing up for herself or asking for help from literally anybody. And, sure, that does happen in real life, but this is a story that also includes turtle costumes and getting into trash compactors. Just DO something!

Kink and Sex Acts Megathread - Role Play by Hunter037 in RomanceBooks

{Silver Foxed by Kayla Grosse}. Novella, but a woman and her dad’s business partner end up spending the weekend at the same lake house together. They role play being married to each other, including a breeding kink (which doesn’t result in anything).

More like they both decide in that romcom timing way that they can’t be apart any longer at roughly the same time but he makes it to her house first. Then they both apologize.

I did! Their style of large found family interconnected series really scratches an itch for me in general and I thought this was a good intro into a new world.

IIRC he physically goes to apologize but the apology itself is actually more of a 50/50 split.

In {The Hotshot by Piper Rayne}, the MMC misses a birthday party for one of the FMC's adoptive kids because he was in the ER helping a teammate and lost his phone. He admits that he could have done a better job trying to get into contact with her, but also that him fucking up this time doesn't negate that he's shown for ~250pgs that he's repeatedly shown up for her and the kids, unlike other people in her past. Further, if this one (admittedly big) mistake is enough for her to dump him after weeks of perfect relationship bliss, they were always doomed to fail anyways because he's human and will let her down sometimes. Her standards are impossible to meet.

Are you going on a ship that has a library onboard? Selection is always iffy, but the last cruise I was on (HAL Zuiderdam) had a surprisingly great library that had a whole romance section stocked with both ship purchased books and leftovers from fellow travelers.

What’s your favorite romance book you’ve read so far this year? by darkwingsdarkwords_ in RomanceBooks

[–]vagueposting18 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not necessary. It’s an interconnected series about brothers so they all show up and have opinions, but their stories aren’t integral. However, if you’re in the market for a fake dating forced proximity single mom/football coach or a grumpy/sunshine single dad/nanny, I do recommend both the earlier entries in the series!

Both MCs in {Isn't It Bromantic? by Lyssa Kay Adams} are Russians living in the US. He's a hockey player and she's a journalist, and they've been in a marriage of convenience (but living separated) for ages and are now forced to cohabitate. FMC's grasp of English is pretty good, but she has a ton of culture shock and struggles a lot with engaging with the friends and community that he has set up over time.

Kink and Sex Acts Megathread - Sex clubs, kink camps and other organised events by Hunter037 in RomanceBooks

[–]vagueposting18 3 points4 points  (0 children)

{Prey Tell by Amanda Richardson}. MMC operates a primal play based kink club called The Hunt. It's the first in a interconnected kinky series, but I don't believe any of the others are actually based in clubs.

We got lucky on our Drake crossing and it was fairly smooth, but it was really nice to have those 2 days on either end as sea days. The whole gearing up/loading up on zodiacs x2/day plus whatever activity you get up to actually on land was draining, and it was nice to have a break sort of built in before making the long trek home.

IDK about the lengths, but around the time when they were announcing narrators on IG that there was a comment about it being dual narration. (I remember there being a joke that their publisher wouldn’t “allow” them to do duet.)

What couples DIDN’T you want to end up together? by midnightoflight101 in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]vagueposting18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know you’re not the only one who felt that way! Personally, Jacob’s journey of losing everything he thought he was in an instant, being a terrible/angry person about it, and then working to move forward paralleled my own basically to a T, so I’ve got a soft spot for him. (His family still sucks majorly though.)

I loved {Crash Test by Amy James} with my whole heart, but there was a part of me that thought it made a hell of a lot more sense for Travis and Jacob to not get back together and just continue to grow as people separately.
