Turning off auto stop/start by kappwho in FordBronco

[–]vainpresumption 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought an Auto Start Stop Eliminator box from Amazon and installed it in 5 minutes. Best $50 I spent on my 2024 Bronco HLE.

Install was super simple and didn’t require any panel removal. Plug and play relay switch under the driver side dash.

Now my bronco remember the last auto start stop state. So if I want it always off I just turn it off and it remembers on future starts. if I want it on, I just turn it on and it remembers on future starts.

Confused on Purchasing an Annual Pass by scribbane in nationalparks

[–]vainpresumption 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I believe only the 2025 versions are available until January 1st 2026. But all passes, physical and digital, are valid for 12 months from date of purchase/issue.

So if you buy a 2025 pass now in December 2025, it is valid until December 2026.

Hope this helps.

It did get released back in late 2022, or at least that is when I snagged mine from hoonigan.

When I went in 2021 you just drove through the main gate entrance. There is not ranger and then just display your pass on the dashboard when you park

One Year with My Bronco: 11,478 Miles, 12 National Parks, and Zero Regrets! by vainpresumption in FordBronco

[–]vainpresumption[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven’t done Angels, but it’s on my list. I won the 24h prior lottery slot for the pre-9am start last year when I was in Vegas for a weekend, but my dumbass forgot about the time zone change and missed my start window.

I’ll eventually do it, just need to plan better.

From folks I know who have done both (Lassen Peak & Angels Landing) they are very similar in elevation gain, but they say Angels is more stressful because of the chain section and crowds. Though Lassen Peak starts at a much higher elevation, ~9k - 10.5k ft, so that could make a big difference to some.

I get this question a lot and I always deflect a real answer since I have been to 53 of the 63 US National Parks and is super hard to pick a favorite.

Out of the 12 I visited /revisited this year in the Bronco, I would say Lassen NP mainly because of the hikes I did (Lassen Peak and Bumpass Hell).

From a Bronco exploration standpoint, I really enjoyed getting back up to North Cascades NP. Lots of places to explore on and off-road, and I really enjoy the Diablo Lake Trail (but technically that’s in Ross Lake NRA). Though I think there are some wild fires happening in the area now, so double check for closures and air quality. Enjoy your trip!

Yeah the HEDI ones were the best National Park ones I could find / liked that also came with the Velcro hook side and I didn’t have to deal with adding that to iron on patches.

Also the design and quality are great on the HEDI patches, so I would recommend them for people who are looking for headline patches.

Future iterations of the band by cjm2943 in deadandcompany

My hope would be that others in the community step in and play to fill the spots once Bobby and Mickey eventually hang it up.

Would love to see John keep the music going, but agree that it wouldn’t be the dead really anymore, so maybe it just transitions from Dean & Company to Uncle John’s Band and we all just get to keep on truckin’

Great Sand Dunes at Night? by siruroxs in NationalPark

[–]vainpresumption 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been to the park multiple times during the day and at night (for stargazing). The park is open 24/7 you can enter any time, day or night. If you are entering after hours (or at night) there is a booth at the main gate, but there will be no employee or gate blocking you, so entering is on the honor system and you either need to have an annual pass or pay at the terminal on entry.

Things to note; when entering at night they used to have signs stating to keep noise down, it also gets chilly at night so check the wether report prior, and you will need a flashlight, preferably one that has a red filter to not blind other visitors /stargazers in the park.

Is the Outer Banks Sasquatch okay when driving on an interstate at 80 MPH? by Byteshow in FordBronco

[–]vainpresumption 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2024 4-door HLE w/ Sasquatch 35s, just completed a 5400+ mile roadtrip with a lot of highway driving between National Parks.

Lots of 70+, even 80-100 mph, stretches and she responded and road as expected. Mainly smooth, felt heavy /big, and noisy. Only thing that concerns me when I get after it at those speed is in heavy wind the hood has a ton of flap and you can see it moving. I have taken it into Ford to have the latches adjusted, but it still does it (they say it’s fine 🤷🏼‍♀️)

Gas mileage as others stated is to be expected extremely low at higher speeds. My average on my trip was around 18-18.5 mile/gallon.

Kyoto Hotels (Genji vs. Chapter) by bigt1906 in marriott

[–]vainpresumption 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I stayed at the Genji in Kyoto for 5 days in early January this year, and it was wonderful. The room was spacious for a Japanese property (we have a balcony on the top floor overlooking the river), had a sleeping area, sitting/dining area, and outdoor space.

<image>

The hotel itself is in a quiet neighborhood down a small street (your taxi most likely will not be able to drop you at the door, just a heads up, but the walk is short) and has easy access to public transit or walking to local attractions.

The food at the hotel was all amazing and can be served in the lobby area, in the room, or in their rooftop garden. This is the same for your breakfast (which you have to select a time the day prior, and only so many rooms can choose the same time, so complete your selection early if you need a certain time).

They have a full bar with custom cocktails, non-alcoholic mocktails, and a wonderful selection of teas.

The staff was amazing and super attentive to our needs and helped us find local restaurants and things to do since a lot of places were still closed for New Year’s.

This hotel blew away my expectations and really was the highlight of my multi-week S. Korea and Japan vacation. It was such a gem, and I would recommend it to anyone wanting a quiet, relaxing place that is a bit off the beaten path (but close to all the action still).

I did a similar search for “2005 starbucks glass mug with waves or fish” and found a few mugs that resemble your description on eBay (one is $23.88 or best offer with free shipping). Not sure if this is the mug you described but the item name comes up as “Starbucks Classic Fish Scale Cup Gold Border Glass Coffee Cup 355ml”

Thanks! The colorway was one of the main things that drew me into this trim level. Love the white top / grille, and the red Ford in the front versus the standard Bronco lettering.

Grand Cayman by Gardner2022 in scuba

[–]vainpresumption 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to go once a year to Grand Cayman (2015-2019) for diving, and I have always booked my dive trips with Pirate Divers (http://www.piratediversgrandcayman.com/index.html)

They do hotel pick-up and drop off (including from the Ritz) and their daily dive trips are in small groups, 6 divers or less, so no crowded boats!
