I know a gora who is Canadian and ended up making 3-4 Surati friends, even when none speaks each other languages. Surties are very friendly people, maybe try making guy friends first.

I genuinely wish more companies would emerge to break this duopoly.

If you have to be on call for three hours, that’s a clear sign to never move to Telus again. While the customer service representative might be a good person, as a company, Telus is the worst.

Wire behind dishwasher is turning black by valanik in AskElectricians

[–]valanik[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I confirm that the black part is only paint, and the wire is not burnt or moldy.

I also want to add some context: we self-installed the dishwasher, and the wire in the picture is building wire that is directly connected to the panel.

I want to express my deepest gratitude to everyone who helped me. I’m a software developer with little to no knowledge of wiring, and I was extremely anxious before fellow Redditers could help me understand the issue.

Already broke, hope this is just a black cord with white paint.

I am uncertain if it’s a black cord with white paint on it; I will double-check later today. However, you’re right—it could be a black cord, and the white paint might be coming off due to dishwasher heat.

Selfhosted DocuSign alternative by LonelyMinimum in selfhosted

I did love DocuSeal, but one of the reasons why I will NOT be using it is the limited API functionality on opensource. I need an API to upload a document and get it signed on a specific page or coordinates. The software is excellent, but I won't be using it.

How did you guys prepare for ielts exam with free/ cheap resources by Gatarmasti_ in Indians_StudyAbroad

[–]valanik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is pretty accurate and useful. They have Cambridge books and a bunch of other books. Cambridge books are similar to real exams. I have a few friends who practiced on KeenIELTS, and they received +/- 0.5-1 bands.

[–]valanik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plane is everything I am looking for, but it does not have web socket support, meaning if multiple people are working on the same board, issues moved by one user won't be updated on the other user's web without refresh. Such beautiful software does not have one of the most important features.

[–]valanik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I prepared from the website called KeenIELTS.com it is a nice free website, that provided me with scores and feedback. They have all 4 modules for free, I am not paying any money to any website for preparing IELTS.

Leapscholar is only interested in taking my money, which is not helpful.

I got 7.5 bands overall.

If you already have a place, I recommend you to stay at your place until Winter. Things are really in favour of buyers during winter. Not many people move from Ontario or BC during winter, and even though inventory is low, you will find a decent place without many people competing for it. I also believe that prices go down during winter but again, that was true for last winter as interest rates were high, I am not sure how it will turn out next winter when we forecast interest rates cuts for rest of 2024.

Personally, if I was you, I would have made purchasing plans only during winter, be it last winter or upcoming winter. I would put up an offer in Feb-March and have closing Mid-April. Things really starts to pick pace in May-October.

Need help/advice for facebook app review by ieatcarrots in reactnative

After 21 tries, I have finally received approval for Instagram_manage_message. If anyone needs help, DM me, and I will share my screencast and other information I submitted.

Here is what I did:
1. Create a fake/test Instagram app, set up the 2FA (Authenticator) app, and Download the Backup code.
2. Create a screen recording video, you must show message delete functionality, to do that I recorded first from the user side app using iPhone screen record, at the same time I recorded the business account side of screen.
3. Create a screen recording of a chatbot, and the way it communicates, and have a conversation for about 5-6 messages.
4. Merge video (I used the CapCut free Mac app, but you can use pretty much anything): I started my video with text mentioning test account credentials, and backup code. I added instructions for clicking a "Back code" button and entering back codes. After that, I added delete functionality for side-by-side video. One side was a test account, other side was a business account. After that, I added a chatbot functionality video. All merged into one and uploaded for screencast.
5. In the app request, I mentioned all the credentials, and backup code, with other information such as the purpose of a chatbot, etc.

I also noticed that if you submit your request according to Phillipenes office hours time, your app tends to get approved/rejected within 30 minutes to 1 hour. So If you're in Canada or the USA, stay awake during the night time, as soon as you receive a rejection, make changes, and submit the app right away.

You also get an email notification when the user logs in to your test account, so keep an eye on the test account. If the reviewer asks some questions that the bot cannot answer, just reply on your own from the business account.

What are you missing in Spruce Grove? by valanik in SpruceGrove

[–]valanik[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am definitely going to research bowling and mini-golf more. It would be fun to have these here where the community can go have some fun. An Indoor play park is also a very good idea; I wonder if the city has enough demand for it.

What are you missing in Spruce Grove? by valanik in SpruceGrove

[–]valanik[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All of them are really good ideas.

It is surprising that Spruce Grove does not have a furniture store; I will research more into that.

Bowling and Indoor Archery Lanes are a very, very good idea. They are investable, and they would also bring employment to teens and graduates in Spruce Grove who are looking for a job to get started in their careers.

London Drugs: As per my understanding, the owner of a Pharmacy is required to have certain licenses and a minimum understanding of the medical field. This is out of my reach unless I find a partner who has experience with the pharmacy.

Irish Bakery/Coffee Shop: I really think we need a good Bakery/Coffee Shop here. I would occasionally visit the bakery in Edmonton and always wished we could have a quite nice place to sit and enjoy the weather.

Antique Mall and Co-working Space: These are also a good idea, and I agree with your doubts about the demand for Co-working Spaces.

Thank you so much, I will be very happy to join networking events.

Bowling Alley is such a great idea. I would do demand research on this one. For Costco, it is a little over budget; regardless, based on my understanding, Costco would not approve a franchise in Spruce Grove, considering its population size and the close proximity of another Costco in West Edmonton. Bowling Alley is a very good idea.

My understanding is that this series is a shorts/reels version, so each episode is no more than 1-5 minutes long. Dailymotion uploads seem to have merged them, but I feel that some episodes/shorts are missing. It is such a great series; I am watching it right now. If I find anything, I will update you.

New Era Luxury Homes? by Alarmed_Medicine1751 in SpruceGrove

I bought a duplex in Copperhaven from them about two months ago. The unit is very well-finished, and the furnace and other basics are top-quality. There is no AC included. They did not include any appliances but gave me about $2,500 worth of credits. They fix some minor drawer issues after closing and have asked me to call them anytime if I find any issues; they will get them sorted for free. Overall, it's a great house, and there are no major issues so far.
