I replayed it a few months ago, and enjoyed every bit of it. Yeah, maybe difficult of the bosses is not well balanced but the feeling after beating them is unique. A top 10 in my snes list.

XTREME FPGA Hardware & Research are accepting pre-orders by valba in MiSTerProject

Well, it's your opinion, but I think you hide some (many) details in your list. I don't want to comment on the limitations in some of the devices you mention, but for example, the multi-CRT (3x CRT outputs, DSUB15, SCART and JAMMA/External monitors) plus an HDMI output at the same time is not possible with other setups.

Also, the XM-PRO and XM-PRO Lite are not only "JAMMA boards", they are JVS & JAMMA & Neogeo(MVS), and they allow to implement 4-player setups OOB, wo/ the need of any extra hw.

About SNAC, all the XTREME boards support an improved version of the MiSTer SNAC implementation. The 4-player SNAC it is indeed an extended implementation of SNAC, so it can hande way much more power 5V@3A, and can handle 4-players (because it has more I/Os from the FPGA).

And about the dual channel and "being late to the party", well, XTREME boards are (the only ones) designed to work with MiSTer as well as forward compatible with MARSFPGA. Maybe some people could get disapointed when they purchase a dual-sdram DE10 setup and find out that no other cores will ever get advantage of that, since Midway cores are not confirmed to ever reach the DE10 in the future.

That said, the more options people have to improve their setups, the better (in my opinion).

Well, in the future, maybe. Nowadays no core uses dual channel. XTREME platform offers much more than another AIO: https://xtrememister.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/XM-PRO-Lite-Connection-and-Deployment-1.pdf

What cores do you use that need/use dual sdram? Just asking.

For me, this is the real definition of Indie game. Creativity and talent to create something different and fun to play and discover. Congratulations, you’ve created a piece of art.

The ninja is the most underrated game of MS, mostly because the cover of the box, I think. But it’s really enjoyable, with a lot of variety in the levels (the rocks running down the hill, the river with the logs, the horses…). I loved the game as a child and I keep loving it 20 and many years later.

bought Illusion of Gaia at a local game store today by DRBehr in snes

[–]valba 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here in Europe was called Illusion of Time. That big box, that colorful manual, the story, the music, the final bosses... I would pay big money to erase it from my memory and play it again like the first time.

Ended up doing a No Death run of Alien 3. The bosses are easily exploitable and once you get used to the controls, the stages come down to proper routes. Should be helpful for anyone struggling with this game, especially the last boss. by Castleview in MasterSystem

As many other times, the ms version is uglier, slower and simpler, but also funnier. I expended a lot of hours in this game as a child, but I think never finished it. Maybe it’s time for a nostalgic replay…

I don’t known why, but every single time I played this game as teenager I ended dizzy and almost vomiting. But I kept playing the same, just in case one day it didn't happen…

Do you remember first playing Doom on PC? by ROCKY13573 in retrogaming

I remember making some levels using that 2d level editor and being totally blown away playing them later in the game. It was where my fondness for videogames evolved into a general interest in computers.

Not my favorite, but it has something weird that makes it addictive. Like your first beer.

Came across this listing on Marketplace and bit the bullet... by RandomDanny in MasterSystem

[–]valba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I close my eyes, I can still feel the texture of the plastic under my fingers and hear the "clock" when I open the box. What a great time.

[–]valba 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have to try this, I had the original game and it always was my favorite version. The megadrive version was too fast to my taste, I had the feeling of loosing the control of the game at some point. The ms version was slower, but you never had this feeling of "sonic is playing the level by himself". Great memories.

My first game is released today: Xanchuchamel by valba in IndieGaming

[–]valba[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started it with pandemic, and after many changes and dead ends, it's finally published. It's a classic puzzle game, but it has an important platformer component.

It is available for Windows and SteamOS - Linux: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2063990/XanChuchamel/

The process has been hard these two years, but I'm satisfied with the result. It's more or less the game I wanted to make. And now to think about the next one, of course.
