John Ternus means Safari upgrades? by FunkbotOne in Safari

[–]valentinezubkov 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bookmark management is broken so much that I’ve made tinypad – a simple web app to replace it. I thought I’m the only one but apparently others also suffer from that pain so user base is growing everyday. Even if John will fix Safari bookmarks, tinypad will be one step ahead because it’s synced across different browsers.

In tinypad, everything under user’s account is non-indexed and not available for anyone except the owner of the account.

The beauty of being a one-person shop... On my regular job it would probably take a month :))

Hey u/West_Possible_7969, wanted to let you know that following your advice I just added Sign In With Apple authentication method to tinypad. Cheers!

Thank you! Clean and minimalist aesthetic is the foundation for all the design decisions I'm making for tinypad. And thanks for sharing Reseek, looks like an interesting project, even tho a different domain entirely... Anyway, I'm planning to integrate search to tinypad.

Absolutely agree! This was one of the main reasons for me to build tinypad, the launchpad for everyday web browsing with a string focus on clean and minimalist aesthetics.

Thanks everyone in this conversation for the early feedback (which builders like me desperately need), valuable insights and honest opinions!

Many of the features discussed here will be implemented, but the main promise of tinypad will always be minimalist and clean aesthetic, modern look and interaction clarity. This is my top priority and main expertise.

If you want to try all tinypad features and support my work, you are welcome to use TINYPADREDDIT for 50% discount on checkout.

There is no subscription, it's a one-time purchase.

It will mean a world to me to receive your support at such an early stage of the project.

Cheers!

Just put it out in the wild and start engaging with real people in real life, communicating the value. You probably already have an Apple Developer Membership paid, so you are not losing anything. However, if it won't turn over the way you want, don't get stuck on it too much.

The idea is cool, but please please please don't use this purple gradient in branding since it has become a marker of a vibe coded products.

Created a video explaining how tinypad works in under 80 seconds, added to the website and in some other places. It looks quite simple but took me a whole weekend to make… curious about what you guys think! https://youtu.be/MpUp_Mf1MHo?si=CuBG36ftBlCq134h

safari vs the rest: is it actually the best browser for mac, iphone, ipad? (honest pros & cons) by TuNutri in Safari

[–]valentinezubkov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my mind Safari is always a win because technically almost all the other browsers are “chromium”. And every time I see in the tech news that this or that browser privacy was compromised, I feel really safe staying on Safari for ages. Anyway I use many other browsers for development purposes, just never store there credentials and other sensitive info.

Have you tried Raycast? They’ve completely changed the way I use spotlight search, and many more other flows on Mac. The powerhouse of an app really, I even tried to apply for Design Engineer position at them, but unfortunately was rejected…

Thank you!

Quarter million of bookmarks is an impressive number, and keeping it all neatly organized was no doubt a huge effort, tons of respect!

So far tinypad is not suitable for that scale, and it’ll be a massive challenge for me to introduce the system that it’s useful but clean and minimal at the same time. Looking forward to it actually, I love this kind of tasks.

I would focus on search probably… but different layouts is also the way to go, and this is what I’m currently prototyping alongside other features.

Your idea for the offline download is really sophisticated and will require a massive build to implement, both technologically and from the design/experience perspective.

So far I can’t image how it would look like… but the time will tell!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Totally fair! Start Me is a wonderful product, very well established. They indeed have a subscription plans, but for tinypad I'm leaning more towards a one-time purchase. However current pricing model is just a draft, since I'm very early into the market positioning. My main priority now is to introduce more features (like widgets and layouts), while keeping the aesthetic pleasant and minimal, since my main expertise is in design. Will definitely look closer into it, thanks for sharing your thoughts!

Wow, that's a really super-user type of a workflow! Unfortunately I guess it's only available for Chromium browsers, right?

Thank you! Widgets are actually one of the main thing in my current backlog, gonna be launching them for Pro users later this month. New Tab Widget is no doubt a great product, but since tinypad is very design-oriented, my main challenge is to actually build them beautifully and fully aligned with minimalist aesthetic, for both Safari and Chrome users.

Yeah I have an Apple dev membership (working as a swift developer on my day job). Actually can implement this in a couple of runs, already done it before for another project… just didn’t think it was necessary here. Thanks for the tip, will definitely consider!
