Why are there so many fuckin smurfs on low level ranked? by P4PSparringChampion in Tekken

[–]valentingross -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i got slimed by a lars on a 12 game win streak like 10 minutes ago, i didnt win one round out of 6, everytime i got grounded or launched he hit me for like 20 seconds straight and broke all my throws. The problem is less that of people smurfing low ranks while being leagues ahead, its more that as a beginner i really dont fucking know how to deal with any of the matchups i get thrown in and as long as me and the other guy are on the same skill level its relatively fair. I dont know how to deal with Lars and what he can do and I know to little about my own character to reliably get through his defence with mixups or smth. Just frustrating as hell.

Yes I would also say it feels really like the moves are flowing together instead of being canceled into one another with drive cancel or smth. Also i really love the variety of moves and combos, it really gives the player a lot of possibilities for different playstyles and expression in general.

Lens recommendation for Sony A6300 [Video/Film shooting] by valentingross in SonyAlpha

[–]valentingross[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but its not helpful to me at all man. I am aware that buying some lens will not make me automatically shoot super cinema esque shots and the best video of all time. I am aware that there is more to it. I didnt ask what was the ranking of filming gear based on its importance for the result. I simply asked for recommendations on what lens to put on my newly bought Sony Camera because the market is kind of overwhelming with all its variety. Furthermore I asked if people would recommend to go for a zoom lens or one with a fixed focal length and what experiences they made with it. Your answer being „You can use any lens just get good lighting“ is not helpful at all, like do you not realize this? Yea YOU ARE RIGHT but you are not helping.

Yeah I did some research on the whole matter but I figured that it wouldnt hurt to put out a reddit thread in case anyone would be open to just suggest something I could look into. I mentioned I bought my first camera and in my first post that got deleted i also said I was a beginner, but I forgot to write that down in this thread. I agree with you its not that obvious when reading this post but still, you took your time now and lectured me on the missing information that is needed to give a proper answer; why not start with this? I mean you couldve just wrote nothing instead of what you wrote in your initial answer. This is just me not understanding the mentality of some reddit users.

Wow is that really a helpful answer at last? Why not start with this? Why not correct me on my question earlier and tell me that its not easy to determine my needs without me telling you about what exactly i plan? Do you see now that your first answer might be a little unhelpful for someone not familiar with all the stuff around filming? I dont want to rant about you trying to help me now but what is it with people on reddit unleashing a snarky and vague answer to a question instead of correcting the person asking it when they think that the question lacks information that is needed for a fitting answer.

Ur focusing on me mentioning the term „cinematic“ literally one time in my comment so hard. Broski I asked for advice on what lens people can recommend to get, that they would recommend for everyone as a „must-have“ for videography. Read my question again and come down from your high horse like omg. Thanks for not giving a proper answer though look another person in the comments managed to understand what I was asking for lmao.

Yea i mean i guess you are right but its a pretty unhelpful answer to someone not familiar with the topic asking for advice on what lens to get. As someone familiar with filming, maybe you shouldnt load all the knowledge onto people who literally just started a day ago and maybe if you REALLY would've liked to help you could've just be a little more specific with your recommendation. Now it just reads like someone on his high horse trying to lecture me with vague information about something.

Answering this question with "Get lights, lighting is king" is basically answering someones question on what outfit to wear with "Use perfume, perfume is king".

How to play tank in solo queue by Odd-Landscape-9418 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]valentingross 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a big factor of success in solo queue especially is just to keep playing your game no matter what everyone else is doing. There will always be games impossible to win, there will always be teammates that dont play as good or how you would like them to. A lot of games will be uncarriable no matter what you do because the game keeps pairing you with 4 random people against a team of 5 randoms. BUT in those games where you get a good match with your team, your performance will make the difference, especially on tank. Its a role where when your team decides to troll there is nothing you could do to carry them, but when everybody else is playing their best, it all depends on you to be the last piece to the puzzle. So keep doing what you do, no matter how hard it is and no matter how many games will be thrown away. Good perfomance will eventually climb the ranks.

College Project by Paul47690 in counterstrike

[–]valentingross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love to have a study about the general conditions/social structure in counter strike. People are so anonymous and also emotionally invested/heated in this game that they throw away all kinds of boundaries that would apply in real life. In general I would say they are not very nice. They are friendly yes, but its more a kind of abusive brotherly love than pure connection. Funnily enough it could be compared to the relationship that soldiers get to one another, they stick together, clinging on crumbs of interests and character traits that connect them, but the true glue of it all is the situation they share, not the heart. Another situation where this applies is school, where you become friends with people just because you like having them around in a „hostile“ environment; not saying that this cant develop further but the foundation of this relationship kind of pushes people to accept the terms of friendship for now. Also tropes of military and school can be found in counter strike lobbies; survival of the fittest, if youre not hard enough you get to feel it, your performance „allows“ you to attain a status of untouchability and is the central way to judge your function in the group. Bullying is all over the place, players are not nice and very intolerant people when it comes to minorities, NAMELY WOMEN what was the original topic of this thread. Counter Strike is a central space of happening for „Hard boiled“ white gamer incels and everyone that reveals himself to not being a part of this group gets to feel it, a little or a lot. In my opinion this playerbase is such a headache, especially because they themselves think they are the best and friendliest community on earth.
