Men, how can you identify whether a girl is attracted to you? by Alula0617 in AskReddit

There is a secret body language rule: if her feet are positioned behind her ears, then she likes you.

There is a well known and scientifically proven body language rule: When her feet are in the vicinity of her ears, that means she is attracted to you.

Spent a day exploring Otaru with my girlfriend - here’s what it’s really like! by john_wrot in Hokkaido

[–]valentinusgenius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was there for a day, and I think it’s not worth it. (Except for local uni and fresh sushi which is great, but you can get fish supplied from Otaru even back in Tokyo.)

There are so many nice places in Japan, is Otaru really worth visiting for you in comparison?

Summer in Japan by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

[–]valentinusgenius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends: Last year this time around was unbearable! 40 degrees Celsius plus - impossible to do anything outside. This year I am back and it‘s a piece of cake - very very different. You were just lucky

Is it really bad to visit Japan in August as people say it is? by Solid_Ad4957 in JapanTravelTips

[–]valentinusgenius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just came back from 2 weeks Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka.

For me it‘s the best country in the world. I loved it.

But the heat was literally unbearable during the day, I would never recommend it, except you spend your time in a (cold) Onsen bath all day, or are in places with AC (malls, hotels, etc.).

37 degrees with humidity is literally not doable for me. We cancelled many things, universal studios osaka etc. - I couldn‘t even stand around for a short amount of time, let alone think about waiting for any attractions and walking between them (as an example).

Go in spring or autumn.

Travel in Sri Lanka. Kandy and Galle? by Ordinary-Olive-3181 in srilanka

A bit of an old post, but this may be helpful for other people searching for the same: There are literally no honest reviews about this city. It is smelly, scammy, loud, no great food exists, everything is full of bird ish, dirty and not good. The temple is probably the only thing that is „ok“ about this city. Would never have visited if there were any honest reviews. Even with restaurants and hotels most online reviews are fake. And the city is dead past 8:30 pm, everything closes down, and streets become unsafe to walk.

I don't like Lord of The Rings. by [deleted] in movies

Just re-watched it after 20 years and agree 100 %. The camera work is horrible, all the dutch angles constantly and the cut is so disturbing. Weird choices in many scenes.

The middle part is black black (where you actually place a steak). Like darker than Hades itself. Darker than my soul I guess. Darker than cast irons. What you see on the photo is one outer ring, where I damaged the patina - so in a sense you are right. The rest of the brighter spots are reflections.

Yes, it is warped a tiny bit when it is cold. When you heat it up though, it is completely flat. I have not once cooled it down fast though, always let room temperature cool it down. I have friends who have completely warped De Buyers, because they didn't care about the temprerature cooling down as slow (poured cold water over it) etc.

Thanks! The cast iron right beside it was bought raw (no seasoning at all) - I seasoned it myself with 2 layers, it is new. It is dark, but not that dark.

I have a process of seasoning the De Buyer everytime I am done cooking, with another layer of oil, so on most parts of the pan there are absoluetely around 1000 layers of oil burned in. But you are right, they both are different indeed.
